sounds like you just need better cooling.....

Yeah, but I'm fine where I'm at right now. Load temps of 43C @ 2580Mhz aren't too bad.

reverendrun, I just got my Opty 165 with the same ccbwe 0551 from zipzoomfly, did you by any chance get yours from them? My first Opty 165 from Monarch OEM got up to 2835, have not had the chance to play with my 0551 and still in box.

I got it from Monarch.

Just a little more info. If I try and get to a 300HTT it's a no go. I blue screen at 295 and I can boot in at 294, just not stable.

I've memTested my RAM for 8 hours at 275Mhz 2.5-4-4-8, so my guess is my Opty is maxing out at about 2680Mhz.

If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

oI have been burning in my Opteron 170 CCBWE 0550UPMW for two weeks now and it have really paid of! Im primestabil for 24h+ @ 2,8 ghz 1,425v.

I will try to push it further but for hitting 2,85 it wants ~1,5v so i havent made up my mind if its worth the heat. For now its fulloading @ 38. what do you guys think?

38 is sweet, 45/50 max i will go and thats classed as safe. 50+ pushing it and near 60 is to much really.

how did "burn-in" do anything

As for extra 50mhz ..nope not worth extra vcore IMHO

On my second day of testing with my new Opteron 170 CCB1E 0550VPMW from Newegg (retail). Ran it up to 270x10 a couple hours dual prime stable with the factory HSF, just got my WC setup migrated to the new box yesterday. I really like the new Expert boards, much more tweakable and rock solid.

Currently running AG's custom prime blend at 280x10, 9:10 divider. It passed 2 hours of dual SP2004, so I think it is pretty stable. Also ran 3dmark 2003 and 2005 no sweat, looked awesome. Hopefully will get some screenies for the OC database from this run.

New rig:SLI-DR expert board, Opteron 170, FSP 700W , Gigabyte Aurora case, Samsung 214T monitor, Sappire X1900XT 512MB video card, 2GB OCZ PC4000 Gold GXT, 2x250MB WD SATA drives, Koolance Exos2, Dangerden TDX processor and Maze4 video card blocks

Hi guys, I've been overclocking my new 170 opty and things seem to be going very well, at stock volts it manages a stable 2.8ghz with nice low temps. If I feed it around 1.45 volts it will clock to 3ghz but when I dual prime my PWMIC temps double to around 70C! I let it go for an hour but it hit 74C so I wimped out and stopped prime.

Am I just being a total wimp? Is this temp fine??

Cheers
