  1. Also, some BIOS's will show a change, but are in fact not doing anything (via, for instance). It makes me suspicous that your getting the exact same scores with an extra 200mhz on an arithmitic test.
  2. Teflon tape and nice mouse pads. I rarely see those in local stores. Also, try to get things that weigh a lot. I am usually more willing to buy locally if I can save the extra money that would have gone for shipping. Local is the way to go for things like copper heatsinks and cases. Good luck man, and congrats.

There comes a point whne I would feel guilty, and spending $1000 for a cpu is right around there. If I were insanely rich, I'd buy a $500 processor and give the other half of the money to charity.
  4. I agree with exeter. The extra fans will really help for cooling, but as always will add some noise. How much it will help depends on how nice your airflow is already, but it could be a drastic change. And I don't think the northbridge needs more cooling unless you are really gonna up the FSB.
  5. Well, your case looks amazing man. But I still don't see what you changed about it. Is it the two rods to the left and right of the drive bays? If so, they look very nice. Do you have before and after pics?
  6. 1.) NFSU 2.) Vice City 3.) UT2003 4.) Warcraft III TFT 5.) NWN Pretty unoriginal, but I love them.
  7. It would be nice to have a more complete list of your computer parts if you want to know what to upgrade. We obviously don't need to know your keyboard or mouse, but it is nice to include things such as soundcard and motherboard. Also, we can't give you much advice at all if you don't tell us more information about your RAM. Saying you have 512mb of RAM is like telling us you have a 4 cylinder car, and asking how fast it is. Not all sticks of ram are the same, do you know what speed it is? If I were you, I'd hold out on a video card. The 9500 pro is a pretty nice card, and if your going to upgrade I'd wait for a 9700 pro or better for your money's worth. Good luck, and happy spending.
  8. I'll add my vote to the consensus. I say BIOS because it effects all the different Operating systems I want to boot to. So I don't have to find a seperate software application for each and every OS.
  9. Yeah, Some video cards have trouble running even at stock speeds. If you have an interest in OC'ing your card (why wouldn't you ) I'd recommend a nicer fan and some heatsinks. You can get more out of that card.
  10. ... As enthusiastic as I am about the capture of Sadam, I think the exagerated torture tactics in this thread are getting old and tasteless. <_< I also think that America was correct in pursueing Sadam and his comrades. After all, lack of evidence that there are WMD's now is not evidence that they never existed.
  11. haha, I rushed home to see who won, and now it isn't here yet. Curiosity kills the cat I guess.
  12. The only one on the list I have dealt with is Xoxide. And they shipped my superbright LED's at an incredible price, and in good time. I got 4 superbright led's for $1.99 each, and I think they showed up in three days. 5/5
  13. On the offchance that 'esorenson' wins. Thats me. I know I should have picked the same name as my forum name, but I started folding before posting here and now I have racked up 9k points. I don't know about you, but forum priviledges are not worth that many points to me. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know my name is esorenson. hehe
  14. Yeah, nearly any chip can be overclocked. The best thing you can do is do is try it out and see how far you can push it. That is part of the fun of overclocking.
  15. my case is pre-modded, and not near as fun as it would be if I had cut the window out myself. With a custom window you can make it unique.
  16. Yeah, do you need a certain cpu for the size requirements in your case? Because if not, that is TINY. I'd at least check it out with a larger one and see if that is the problem.
  17. I usually use my hotmail account. I had an account at angelfire for about three years, but I finally had to let it die. It was too much work to keep it afloat with all the spam it was recieving.
  18. I say to just try it out. It isn't very hard to switch heatsinks. Put on the v9, see the difference, then make your decision. Oh, and make sure you give us the results.
  19. I've used a program called Directory Snoop for a long time now. It is pretty simple, and small too. It is important to get a compact program to undelete files, because the more you write to the disk, the worse your chances are of recovering your file. Norton Systemworks is a great program to undelete files, but by the time you have it all installed, your lost file will be long gone. I suggest installing a small, freeware program and try to retrieve your file now, then install a more perminant solution for the future. Also, until you have retrieved this file, I would write to your hard-disk as little as possible. In this particular case, I wouldn't even open word. Word automatically creates temporary files in the default directory, wether you save or not.
  20. I am pretty sure he already spent his money.
  21. Yeah, it should work for that OC. Also, it is pretty quiet, so its nice in that regard as well.
  22. I wouldn't trust that. That is an extremely low temp for the air-cooling you have. Unless, of course, you have a pelt sitting under there.
  23. Hard drives have a nasty habit of spontaniously going bad. If you information is very important, I'd recommend buying a new hard drive and making sure you have adequate cooling for it. However, if you are a risktaker, this hard drive may still last you a long time. I had a WD hard drive that had that error for about a year before I decided to replace it. Also, you may want to try using partition magic to completely wipe the hard drive. Maybe with everything back in order, the hard drive will start off clean and give you no future troubles.
  24. Even if it is possible, there isn't much point to it. It won't save you money (in fact, due to the price of individual laptop parts, it would probably end up costing you a lot more), you can't overclock it, (overclocking a laptop? pfft) and the working space inside laptops is horrid. If your interested with a laptop, stick with the prebuilt ones.
  25. Well, you could either buy ps/2 extenders (yes, they have them at most computer stores). Or perhaps you could cut the wires and solder in extensions yourselves. I have never tried to cut and paste a keyboard wire, but I assume it wouldn't be very hard, just label everything as you cut it. However, I recommend, for cosmetic reasons, either buying the ps/2 connectors or getting a wireless set.
