N.E.A Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 good news about 5870 price range According to a fresh report by Donanim Haber, AMD's next performance graphics accelerator, the Radeon HD 5870, codenamed "Cypress" is expected to be aggressively priced, at US $299. At that price, it intends to be highly competitive against GeForce GTX 285 from NVIDIA. The secret-sauce behind the price could be the 40 nm fab process on which the GPU is being built, which allows upping transistor counts while maintaining significantly smaller die-sizes compared to 55 nm. There is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the specifications of the GPU, including what level of performance with existing application could it end up offering. Some sources, such as ChipHell, which are one of the first to leak pictures of components related to various Evergreen family products claim the Cypress GPU to have an almost 100% increase in stream processor counts compared to RV770, while others remain conservative expecting it to be around 50%. With this kind of a pricing, Cypress could trigger market-wide changes in GPU pricing, if it ends up with a good price/performance ratio at $299. Cypress is expected to be launched on 22 September, close to two weeks after the company unveils the Evergreen family of DirectX 11 compliant GPUs on September 10. Market availability is expected in October. N.E.A Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 and if ATI want to kill nvidia they should make their cards run cooler than before , i did not get 4890 because it gets hot even with a none stock cooler so i got 275 , and most of my friends prefer nvidia because they run cool my old 4850 got 102 c !!!!!!!! and i had to low my cpu speed because it makes the cpu run hot , but when i got the gtx 275 i overclocked it further with the same temps , anyway this year the battle will get much .............( can`t find words) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bosco Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Its not even so much temps if they could get their damn drivers to work properly and give us scaling drivers ATI might go somewhere <_> As long as ATI keeps their head in their sand about drivers and they are never going to get the crown back. N.E.A Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 102 C for a 4850 is relatively normal, not hot. yes i know , it was made to run at this temp but not a none stock cooler card ...whatever the temp was it was radiating heat in the whole case ... nvidia cards do not get that hot , i was on techpowerup forums and some one had xfx 4850 and he got the same temp as i had , and in case if you do not know this i had sapphire 4850 vapor-x no hard feelings ATI fans but nvidia is the best ( performance - cool running ) this is what matters to enthusiasts .... and i might add the good look too :P Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
