  1. I want to know when the fan starts spinning because mine seems to never spin according to GPU-Z. Temps get as high as 43 degrees Celsius and they never spin. What is the starting point at which the fans should start spinning? For reference, its a EVGA GTX 1070 SC
  2. I found this M.2 and it connects to PCI-E 2.0 https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-Predator-SHPM2280P2-240G/dp/B00V01C376/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1468689993&sr=1-1&keywords=Kingston+HyperX+Predator+240GB+PCIe+Gen2+x4+%28M.2%29+Solid+State+Drive Is it a good choice and will it be compatible with my MB?
  3. What about NVMe? I know I may need to upgrade my system for it to support it but the question is, how do I know if a motherboard supports NVME or not?
  4. Guys, the card is a monster even on a 5 year old system like mine. No matter what game I throw at it, it devours it. The only thing hindering the experience, is that I need to have V-Sync always on with all games otherwise I get at least 3 to 5 screen tears. Hopefully G-Sync monitors get cheaper within the next year or so.
  5. Well I will be considering an upgrade when next architecture of CPUs comes out. Then we might get new interfaces for storage to enhance SSD performance or at least cause the price of DDR4 to drop. In that build, I'm aiming at a 32 GB RAM system but that's another thread. What do you use for recording frame rates?
  6. Well, I tried registering the product but there is no submit or next button in their web form!!! I thought I might chat with someone from their CS.
  7. So I just got my new GPU from EVGA and I was wondering if I need to register it on their website now to be eligible to benefit from the 3 year warranty.
  8. Hey all, I just got the card today and I installed it in my 2011 system I believe it is not bottle necking the card in anyway except perhaps the interface is PCI-E 2.0 instead of 3.0. Overall gaming performance should improve even further when I upgrade my SSDs but so far, the system works. I've been playing Crysis (2007) everything maxed out at 1650x1050 which is the max resolution in the game's settings and it runs so smooth. I want to play other games to give an idea how it runs and also play the game itself So, what do you recommend I should start with? Also, do you want me to record FPS using fraps, or do you have a better option since fraps adds a hit on performance?
  9. Is OCZ a good brand? Do they provide good warranty with their products? If so then I can grab one of those instead
  10. Well, the answer is clear. EVGA it is. It should arrive later today. I am also considering writing a user experience review of it on my blog to tell everyone how it performs on my sandy bridge system.
  11. Hi Everyone, I'm considering this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017UDPW1Q/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=38VYQ08M7K9VP&coliid=I25MOFBYHR8U2&psc=1 SSD. The Corsair Force Series LE SSD 480 GB. It is the right size and is probably cheaper than the other options I've seen by $50+. So is it a good SSD or is it cheap because it's cheaply built?
  12. A friend of mine is going to upgrade his current system's RAM. He currently has 8 GB RAM (2*4GB) running at 1.35 volts. His CPU is i5 3550. The options available are running at 1.5v. So we were wondering if it would be ok to use 1.5v in his current setup. Also, does the CPU support RAMs running at 1.5v? The RAM setup he'll do will be as follows: Slot 1: 8GB DDR3 (1.5v) Slot 2: 4GB DDR3 (1.35v) Slot 3: 8GB DDR3 (1.5v) Slot 4: 4GB DDR3 (1.35v) Will that be ok or do we need to install each two identical sticks right next to each other?
  13. Well, I will be getting them from Amazon. And based on what people are saying, customer service of EVGA is better than any other company. As for price, the difference is not that significant. The only reason, I think I might consider the EVGA over MSI with total confidence is that, the EVGA one will arrive around a week earlier than the MSI and, (this is a concern) it may not fit in my HAF X or hardly fit because it is so wide it might touch the fan on the side panel. I did consider it but from more than one user, they say it feels like it was cheaply built due to the excessive use of plastic. But the major reason for me to dump it was it was too long and not available even if I wanted one. I am much more inclined towards the EVGA card but seeing how the MSI has the additional 6 - pin power connector makes me feel that I can overclock it further than EVGA. That is, if I need overclocking to improve its performance which I probably wouldn't since I'll be gaming on a 32" 1080P monitor. Maybe when I get a 2K or 4K display I would need to overclock it. With that being said, I believe I am not mistaken in assuming that the reference design of the EVGA doesn't affect overclocking or power delivery that much since the founders edition already has a good amount of headroom for overclocking to begin with. I will probably wait one more day to see which one ships before the other, and the one that does will stay
  14. That is a great website. Someone directed me to a similar one called http://stamps2go.comand they have similar capabilities. I will be looking for more websites like this. And unfortunately yes, I will be looking for the stamps one by one It is a daunting task but one that I will enjoy since it kind of gives me the feeling of a being a detective. Or maybe because I love organizing things and research.
  15. Hi Guys, I have now pre-ordered two cards from Amazon, the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X and the EVGA GTX 1070 ACX 3.0 SC. I still have the option to cancel either of them. So which do you guys recommend as the better card in terms of quality, customer service? Performance wise it does not matter to me that much because the difference isn't that significant and even if it is I can easily get it or surpass it by overclocking.
  16. Hi guys, I have a collection of stamps which I would like to estimate their value and sell them. Do you have any recommendation for a website that can do both or either of these two?
  17. Why is it that manufacturers can't get a card out right without issues with the most basic functions. If it tells me something, it is that they are all after quick money. If they had taken their time to make it right, they'd make a lot more.
  18. Logitech G700s and I do have the software installed.
  19. So does anyone know the reason for this? Is it because the resolution is too high for the GPU 2D performance?
  20. As some of might know, I am waiting for GTX 1070 stock to hit Amazon and since I don't want to get the Founders Edition card, I am keeping my eyes open for this one: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-ZT-P10700C-10P-Wraparound-Ultra-wide-PowerBoost/dp/B01GVNNOSY?ie=UTF8&me=ATVPDKIKX0DER&ref_=olp_product_details So I want to get some feedback on this particular card if possible or on Zotac in general. The quality of their cards and warranty...etc
  21. Hopefully Amazon gets stock before the end of July at this rate Otherwise I might be tempted to have a look at Polaris. Which means that I might also be getting a FreeSync display seeing how they are much cheaper than G-Sync ones. I also read some news earlier that there are some issues with Pascal again . This time its related to the dual link DVI causing boot up issues.
  22. 1. I do have the latest drivers and running a fresh install of Windows 2. I am using VLC 3. I am using chrome and Firefox. Also I noticed that when watching videos from Lynda.com, I don't experience this issue.
  23. I noticed that when there is a video playback on youtube or from my PC, the mouse moves a little bit slower. Could it be because the 2D clocks of the GPU are too low? I am using a GTX 550 TI with 32" 1080P monitor. I checked the CPU usage and it never gets higher than 28% at the most and GPU load is not significant. Also if it is not the 2D clocks of the GPU, what could be the cause of the issue?
  24. I think it depends on other factors too. Lets look at these scenarios: 1. Someone in no hurry, has a decent card that can withstand what is being played at the given time but not at a desired settings or monitor setup. Then the best time as you said, when the prices first drop especially when the drop is more than 50$. 2. Someone building a computer or like me can't run games at a decent frame rates with the current setup. Then I think in this case, the best time is as soon as possible. Those two cases assume that the person has the enough funds either to wait or to get the card as soon as it gets out. Because lets face it guys, if we are going to wait for some cards to drop in their prices the competition has to be very tough from the other card manufacturers. Plus there is always the chance that for example AMD wouldn't be able to compete with 1070 and 1080 which makes Nvidia control how their prices go more freely. According to some articles I've read, some of the higher end GTX 900 series prices were adjusted after AMD launched their counterparts and they were able to compete, at least at a performance per dollar rating. But the adjustment was no more than 100$ and sometimes a little more. But by the time the prices go their lowest the new series comes out. I was in that situation, I was about to get a GTX 970 then the 1070 came out and its MSRP is 379$. But there are no cards at that price and I expect that they wouldn't get to that till after 5 months or more which is unsuitable for me. The cards that I am looking to buy currently are between 430$ and 449$ if I am to get a FE out of desperation (hopefully would not go this far). The prices for a 970 currently are 320-350$ which yes lower even from the MSRP of 1070 but would be waste of money considering the performance gain of a 1070 over a 970.
  25. I as well as many others are looking to get our hands on GTX 1070. So I want to get some feedback from those who got it whether its a FE or Non FE card. I am waiting for stock on Amazon since I don't prefer the idea of pre order and having to wait. Even though I asked them and they said they wont charge me till it gets shipped and I can cancel the pre-order anytime I want as long as its not shipped. On reddit, some say that their FE cards are working fine contrary to what some 1080 FE owners experienced with throttling and all that kind of stuff. Also some saw the throttling issues gone with the new drivers. Does anyone here have something on this matter to say?
