Laughing Man Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Do I have to flash the BIOS? The whole idea of flashing kinda worries me. (hell handling 1000s of dollars of computer equivliant isn't bright either). It already boots up fine, passed memtest fine. In the process of installing Windows right now. I don't have a BIOS backup chip so..

MrPower Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I recieved two chips with a stepping I haven't seen much of to date, the Opteron 165 CCBWE 0550UPMW. I have only been able to get 1 of them to 2.52 GHz 280x9 at 1.56v and the other to 2.484 GHz at 1.58v... I was hoping for more. I'm new to OC'ing, but am pretty sure this is close to the top, I couldnt get it to pass prime even at 2.565 GHz with 1.65 Volts. Still trying to find the lowest voltage 2.52 GHz is stable at. Looks like max OC for these two chips of mine will be between 2.475 and 2.565GHz. I have the same stepping.. 2,35ghz @ 1,3x1,04 278x9 2,5 ghz @ 1,45x1,04 10h prime stable 289x9 2,6 ghz @ Edit: 1,5x1,04 cpuz reporting 1.52v. Priming now 30mins sofar.. temps are pretty high CPU 53 PWMIC 53 chipset 48 Edit: core 0 failed after 41 minutes What is really annoying is that core 0 seems much weaker than core 1, or i might have messed up with the As5 paste.. I can boot into windows and run prime core 1 289x9 @1,4v while core 0 fails instantly..
slippin Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Just got a boxed 165 today from newegg - CCBWE 0548XPMW Searched to see if anyone else had posted this one and no one had so let me be the first. It's running prime stable now for 4 hours @ 280x9 @ 1.38v. I know not great, but the zalman isn't the greatest aircooled, and I've just started. Temps are 47C w/ both cores running primes. My first post here so let me know if I'm missing something.
i_wheeldon Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Anyone have a 175 with 0536SPMW steppings? Could get one but want know if its a good overclocker, be happy with 2.6/2.7 Cheers
boozer Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I have the same stepping..2,35ghz @ 1,3x1,04 278x9 2,5 ghz @ 1,45x1,04 10h prime stable 289x9 2,6 ghz @ Edit: 1,5x1,04 cpuz reporting 1.52v. Priming now 30mins sofar.. temps are pretty high CPU 53 PWMIC 53 chipset 48 What is really annoying is that core 0 seems much weaker than core 1, or i might have messed up with the As5 paste.. I can boot into windows and run prime core 1 289x9 @1,4v while core 0 fails instantly.. I hear ya MrPower. That is the same thing I'm experiencing.... Core 0 just craps all over itself while core 1 could run for hours.... Mine mimicks yours almost exactly... could only get around 2.3 GHz at stock and only around 2.5ish at 1.5v to 1.6v with high temps. I wonder if there is an IHS issue where there is not good contact on part of the core, or if they are just bum cores?
MacUser Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Here are my results so far for the 0547TPMW OEM from monarch: 2.6GHz at stock voltage set in BIOS to 1.35v with no special. Stable for 2 hours in dual prime95, haven't done a longer test yet since I'm turning my computer off at night to let the AS5 set. I'm quite satisfied with this frequency for now, but I'm sure my satisfaction will soon fade and I'll be pushing up the volts and MHz in no time. As for temps, I get up to 38C with dual prime but those are obviously way off cause of the known issue with the Expert's temp sensor. BTW, does anyone know what the voltage tab is for in the options menu of ITE SmartGuardian?
t2kburl Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Is it normal to have these tests perform much better in XP32 than XP64 ?? I was stuck at about 260x10 running everything in 64 only. Just installed XP32 and am up to 275x10 and still passing everything. I decided to make the change because I passed 24 hours of Memtest (flawlessly) at 255x11 but XP64 would not even think about booting. wharris1 Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I had initially posted with problems running any divider other than 1:1 or 1:2. I upgraded my memory from 2x512 crucial ballistix ddr400 which I could get stable at 260 w/ 3-4-4-8 to a 2x1024 pair of G. Skill F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ which I could get stable to 270, but am now running them at 261 with a 9/10 divider. This now allows me to run my Opt 165 @ 2.6 Gzhz with 1.47 V. I was previously running my @ 2.4 Ghz at 1.35 V, with load temps about 43-44, now at 1.47 V I load at 47-48 using a Thermalright SI-97a with a nexus 92 mm. Overall, much happier outcome; everyone looking for a good 2 Gb pair of memory should check out these G. Skills. No probs with dividers or high freqs.
