DFI Recommended Power Supplies (UPDATED October 20th, 2006!)

Recommended Posts

Hello ExRoadie,

So I guess you are telling me that this wonderful supply or perhaps this marvel are going to make my rig more stable than an Antec TruePower 2.0 430W, OCZ PowerStream 420W, OCZ ModStream 450W or Seasonic S12-430HB 430W ???

Cool! Imagine all the money I could save by buying a "better" product :D

That's Funny! :eek2: :eek: :sweat::P

Use some common sense, you know, I know & everyone who "knows" PSU's knows,

that any of the models you have listed, would have been rated at 480W's or more by "most" PSU companies.

These companies & their excellent products are caught in a cache-22 &

there is NOTHING that I or Exroadie or AG can do about it.

Dave

EDIT:

The OCZ PowerStream 420W has a Peak Power Rating of 520W.

The OCZ ModStream 450W, also has a Peak Power Rating of 520W.

I don't know what the "Peak Power Rating" of the others.

Please post with links if you find their "Peak Power Rating" published.

Thanks,

Dave

I'm going to get a Ultra 4, and I'm wondering if this PSU will do the trick. THre are some nice reviews on it? Seems kind of inexpensive though .. thoughts please?

My first PSU choice would the be the NeoPower 480W.

I guess it doesn't have a PCI connector .. as I have only AGP card right now, I'm not sure what a big deal that it is ..

I have an FX53 CPU

looking to get the EVGA 6800GT or Rosewill X800XL .. still on the fence with this choice.

Antec 3700 Case in the mail

Not sure of memory (I have some OCZ PC3500 EB) and CPU cooler

First, go an post your FULL system specs in your signature. Go to User CP, athen to your left, click on the link "Edit Signature". Seeing as I have no clue what your mobo is, hard to suggest. But there are better PSU's out there to choose from at a better price for performance.

You really don't want an Ultra :shake: , they are famous for their junk.

Pick a proven winner: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854

Antec has a better modular for only $67.14.

I'll fill out my signature when I actually get my machine set up.

I am going to get a DFI NF4 Ultra D. The Antec NeoPower 480 is what I'm leaning towards, my friend keeps ranting about his PC Cooling 510 .. that is a lot of money for a PSU.

I am building another rig, right now I have an ABIT NF7-S which I am giving to my kids. Things that I have already gathered for the new machine are ....

FX-53 CPU, an Antec 3700, A07 Pioneer DVD, Lite On 5239 CD writer, 200 Gig WD IDE and going to get a FRY's special of a Seagate 300 Gig or Maxtor SATA HD, whichever is on sale. 1 gig OCZ PC3500 Plat memory. I have not decided on the CPU cooler .. though the Zalman 7700 or the ThermalBright XP90 looks pretty good right now.

get the forton blue storm 500watts. i hate to see people get the bare minimum on psu's doesnt leave you much room for power hungry upgrades down the road. though i do understand staying with a budget is important.

Forton 500W .. you have the PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI and you're recommending the Forton .. must be a decent enough PSU.

Is there something wrong with the Antec NEoPower 480W?

I was looking at the PC Power & Cooling 425 W model .. not sure if it would be adequate .. I know they do their ratings at 50 Deg C, so it is probably rated for as much power as the NeoPower, or the Forton 500W

Remember DFI requires 24-pin native ATX & a min of 480W's. The Fortron Blue Storm 500W (460W really) is fine for most non-SLI set-ups, however the new Antec SP2 500W Modular is far more powerful & is cheaper, too.
