Recommended Posts

Guest Halvis

Well David, right now its still Gigabyte GA7-VAXP-A Ultra, AMD XP 3000+ Barton, Winbond 512 3200... etc.

Here is what I have ordered and or received so far, on the new build:

DFI LP UT nf4 Ultra-D

AMD 64 3200 Venice

OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Platinum Revision 2

ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU

HITACHI 80GB SATA II

NEC ND-3520A BK - DVD

FSP AX500-A Blue Storm 500w

and ummm, errr, don't laugh too loud but...

ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon X600Pro 256MB DDR PCI-Express x16 Video Card

(will turn it on ebay and pick up a BFG 6600GT if it doesnt make me happy)

I think I'll try to make do with an ANTEC SONATA case I already have, until the p180 is released later this year. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article249-page1.html

I would appreciate any suggustions, some experience with K6 & K7 & P3, rookie to K8 & OC'ing.

Thanks, Hal

Looks good to me, although I would have gone with the XP-90.

Get it stable at stock, running Prime95 & memtest first & then we'll OC it! :nod:

ps I keep taking off sticky nad putting it back on sticky because i hate having too many sticky items...so when something new must be stuck, i have to take certain threads down, but then i put them back up for a while because the pattern seems to be about every 2-3 weeks a new wave of first-time NF4 users show up)

Guys, you overlooked this PSU I spoke about three pages earlier. Linkie @ the egg for you american fellas:

AeroCool Turbine Power 550 W @ Newegg

It has rear exhaust fan, so it has 2 fans instead of 1 as stated in Newegg's page.

Somewhat unknown beast. Powers my system with excellent voltages and it's quiet (I'm picky in this respect, so if I tell you it's quiet, it really is). BTW, it's heavy stuff. ;)

Got it in my country for just €85 including taxes.

Pros:

* All the new stuff (ATX 12V v2.0 - dual rails, active PFC)

* Quiet

* Rock solid voltages

* Stylish looks in anodized black (includes a soft cloth in the box for cleaning lol)

* Modular

* Meshed, shielded & UV reactive cabling

* Decent power

* Nice deal!

* A total of 3 thermally controlled 3-pin power connectors & 3 fan extension cables included.

Cons:

* Just one six pin graphic connector (for the SLI junkies)

* No adjustable rails (for all of you who really value this; not a problem for modders)

* No manual included in the box :confused: (less paper to clog my drawers...)

* May need to remove the semi sphere in the center of the intake fan if you need to mount it from the rear of the case, or if you use a case with stuff too close to the bottom of the PSU (like the drive cage in my TT's Armor). Fan has blue leds in the center, BTW

9/10 overall for me.

Cheers

Thank you for the recommendation. :nod:

The AeroCool website has been down for at least 2-days, any idea why? :confused:

Can you get the UL number so we can fine out who makes it? :confused:

What load regulation? :confused:

What transient respose time? :confused:

What "hold-up time"? :confused:

Max vs. Peak Power? :confused:

What warranty? :confused:

Since you have one please measure the voltages with a DVM/DMM, @idle & @load, like this:

http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/show...ad.php?t=137886

Just a few of the many things we MUST know before recommending a PSU.

Dave :angel:
