Barkuti Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 Hi all, first post , from my old trusty Palomino XP 1600+ ; hope I won't have to hang around here too frecuently! Cos I've got somewhat scared from what I've been reading through XtremeSystems', BleedingEdge & of course these forums the last 2 days, about the issues with LanParty NF4 boards using 5 V rail for powering RAM and UTT CH-5 based sticks like my recently purchased OCZ PC3200 Gold VX  Damn, looks like I just hit the bull with these components. Now I'm not that sure about the virtues of my new PSU, maybe I should have gotten a model with adjustable rails. There's very little information about it out there, and seems like just a couple reviews you could google in a second (link on manufacturer's page anyway). Anyway, I thought I could post this to check for some opinions or any additional info on this braided, anodized black looking puppy. AeroCool Turbine Power 550 W version for me  Cheers
monsterzero Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 Two or more hard drives especially the WD Raptors due to their higher RPM spindles. Two or more optical drives. USB devices plugged into the motherboard headers or back panel ports. If that's the case then why so much negativity against this PSU which otherwise looks very solid? Doesn't seem to be much of a problem to draw enough from the +5v for higher end users.

red930 Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 That's a nod of approval for the choice you made. Why do you laughing? It's a bad choice?
GNU Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 That's a nod of approval for the choice you made. misunderstood. Another question: Powerstream 600 W is a good choice for my ulta-d system too? A trademen sell this PSU with a good prize( 20€ more than the prize of the 520W Powerstreams).

A64 Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 i am using tc2 550 now for my oced 3200 at 10x275 @ 1.6 1:1 auto timings 2.9v, 3 hdd, 1 optical drive, 1 6600gt extreme at 585/1250, 1 tv tuner card, 3 x 120mm fan don't see any voltage change on +12v rail on load so far.. rock solid, +12 rail at 12.02 idle, 12.02 load ( when prime and pi, not sure if this is in load) as for the +5v rail, found that the voltage when i have adjusted to 5.02, will drop to 5.00 when idle, and up again to 5.02 when running prime.. this happen only sometimes... not sure why this happen tho.. any idea ?? on load, should the voltage drop or increase ??? if you looking for adjustable rail, tc2 is the one to go, except you might not like the knobs fitted on the 5.25" bay which is hell too easy for everyone to turn the knobs... even 3-year old kid can mess it up.. hehe.. Get that True Control as it is the same with the addidtion of user adjustable voltages & this can really help when OC'ing. i am using tc2 550 now for my oced 3200 at 10x275 @ 1.6 1:1 auto timings 2.9v, 3 hdd, 1 optical drive, 1 6600gt extreme at 585/1250, 1 tv tuner card, 3 x 120mm fandon't see any voltage change on +12v rail on load so far.. rock solid, +12 rail at 12.02 idle, 12.02 load ( when prime and pi, not sure if this is in load) as for the +5v rail, found that the voltage when i have adjusted to 5.02, will drop to 5.00 when idle, and up again to 5.02 when running prime.. this happen only sometimes... not sure why this happen tho.. any idea ?? on load, should the voltage drop or increase ??? if you looking for adjustable rail, tc2 is the one to go, except you might not like the knobs fitted on the 5.25" bay which is hell too easy for everyone to turn the knobs... even 3-year old kid can mess it up.. hehe.. 0.02V from no-load to full load is excellent, only a 0.4% change & well within the 5.0% AMD spec & the 3.0% Antec spec. You need to lock-up those voltage adjustment knobs as random turning WILL kill your PC.
