kennethk Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Existing headsets won't work at launch - a patch will enable them "later" The same way Xbox one users have to wait 20 minutes to download a patch to block drm?

Andrewr05 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Not even in the market for one and I still find that retarded. So that means even just plugging in a USB drive wont work either? WTF were they thinking? I wonder if that will get 'enabled' at a later time, by Sony or by hackers at a later point?

WTF were they thinking? I wonder if that will get 'enabled' at a later time, by Sony or by hackers at a later point? Possibly. The other thing that sucks is, presumably because to keep the thickness of the PS4 down, it only support 9.5mm hard drives, which is tiny! The biggest 9.5mm or less hard drive is only 1TB, while there ARE 2.5" hard drives that go up to 2TB - just significantly thicker. bp9801 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 The PS3 can only support hard drives 9.5mm in height, however the PS4 is looking like 12.5mm. Despite what the PS Blog said, at any rate, so maybe Sony is saying 9.5mm but it can fit 12.5mm.
ClayMeow Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 The PS3 can only support hard drives 9.5mm in height, however the PS4 is looking like 12.5mm. Not according to the official blog post FAQ. Here's the relevant section: What type of hard drive does PS4 use?PS4 is equipped with a 5400 RPM SATA II hard drive. Users can choose to install a new hard drive so long as it complies with these standards, is no thicker than 9.5mm, and is larger than 160GB. Will users be able to connect an external hard drive to expand storage on PS4?No, this feature is not supported on PS4.
WhenKittensATK Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 If you're not moving your PS4 much, just run a long SATA cable from inside the case to an external full size hard drive. I used to do that with my PS3, until I kicked over the external and killed the HDD haha.
