With Adelphia: Rated speed: 3.0/384 Actual speed: 4.1/425 With Comcast: Rated speed: 6.0/384 Actual speed: 4.9/360 Is it common for ISPs (e.g. Comcast) to provide speeds slower than what they're advertising? The decreased up speed is a bit of a killer for me since I'm using Lingo VOIP phone service and slow up speeds result in call quality issues on the other end. Up to 8mb down and 0.5mb up depending how far you are from the telephone exchange. I can only get one card for that price I found out. I got my mom a card and its $30 a month. grafton Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 i have ethernet built into the wall at my apartment, it was avertised as "high speed" internet access the very smart people who built my complex the whole place runs through a single 10.5M connection ( a few T1's hooked together ) there are over 650 people trying to get as much bandwidth as possible ( while being shoved through some very low quality banwidth shapers ) so TCP connections work fine but UDP oohhh man abbout a 50% packet loss due to the fact they are being lost in the shapers Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
