n_w95482 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Home is better but whatever Sounx98 is smoking I want some:) I'm guessing he has Comcast's 6/768 package with PowerBoost. Cox is another provider that has the same type of temporary speed boost. This is what I got when I was in Comcast land
Syngensmyth Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I'm guessing he has Comcast's 6/768 package with PowerBoost. Cox is another provider that has the same type of temporary speed boost. This is what I got when I was in Comcast land I have a Comcast connection in Fla. and have been told that PowerBoost is somewhat deceptive in that those hellacious speeds only happen in the first few or whatever seconds of the request (whatever that means) and then drop back to normal. Any truth to this?
n_w95482 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Yes. 6 Mbps works for I think the first 10 MB, and 8 is supposed to go for 20 or so. On the upload side, it works for 5 or so MB. Once you pass those, it drops to the rated speeds.
Syngensmyth Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 That is good though. I know my perception of speed with Comcast over Charter at the same basic service was the Comcast was much faster. I was not downloading Spiderman 1,2,3,4,5,6 though so it was very effective on my smaller MB files.
