Vigor Gaming Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 For those of you that were wondering about how a 50W TEC can cool CPU that is rated at a much higher thermal power, here is the answer: For those that had experience with TEC, using an automobile analogy, you had been driving a power steering car. For the Monsoon II, you are actually driving a "Power Assisted" Steering car. The TEC cooling on the Monsoon II varies with change of CPU temperature. Like the "Power Assisted" steering, you only get full-power when you needed the most, and power decreases as your speed increases. For the Monsoon II, it works inversely. As temperature rises, the TEC power increase. In addition, the TEC is not working along, like liquid-cooling. The Heat Sink on the Monsoon will also dissipate heat created by the CPU. Anyway, without going into details (don't want to give our competitor too much information), the Monsoon II is rated to dissipate a maximum around 160W of thermal power. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions.
ReelFiles Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 160W isn't much when you overclock a dual core Opteron.
