Silverfox Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 does anyone know if this whole setup refers to the beta client that has an expiration date though?
romeo55 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I remember reading that this beta SMP client will expire in 2 months yeah, after which an official release will be out dunno about the WUs tho
Silverfox Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 so long as an official release will replace it, that's good. will just need someone to tell me how to install the thing using VMWare! and hopefully WUs will still be of the same points value
Nemo Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 (edited) Depending on when you downloaded the beta SMP client, there seem to be various expiration dates. See this thread form the folding community forums. There appears to be a newer version that expires sometime in April. Edit: Also see this thread about getting the new client. hardnrg Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 (edited) will just need someone to tell me how to install the thing using VMWare! the linked guide (in the OP) is very easy to follow even for a linux novice/n00b looks like the SMP has kicked up OCC's PPD!! from ~43k to ~60k in a month Edited February 4, 2007 by hardnrg

cchalogamer Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 no i meant the NEW client when it comes out Well assuming your not a windows n00b too then you SHOULD be able to figure it out given the proper DL link for the new version... Silverfox Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Well assuming your not a windows n00b too then you SHOULD be able to figure it out given the proper DL link for the new version... there is no confirmation that it will come to windows though - just that the Linux/OSX client will no longer be in the Beta stage. I require help with Ubuntu via VMWare as i is teh linux n00b
hardnrg Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 no i meant the NEW client when it comes out i'm sure the entire install process will be identical, the file names are hardly version/beta specific
