I have a 478 socket here and some processors laying around. You guys want to join me in some "vintage" overclocking?

I have my Athlon Tbred B 1700+ DLT3C laying around...but unfortunately no decent board for it. It's already multiplier modded (to 17x) and volt modded (to 1.65 volts IIRC) but the only socket A board I have laying around is a PC Chips POS.

I got bored at my old work and started playing around overclocking my Prescott 3GHz processor (with an after market Thermaltake cooler). I thought "what the heck" and spun it up to 4.12GHz using the "well, I can only burn it out" but it ran like a trouper.

I'm just about to re-birth a AMD 4400X2 rig for my father - he mainly plays chess and finds that his Celeron/Win98 rig is getting a bit tired. He'll score the AMD 4400X2 (slightly overclocked using a Gigabyte cooler), 1G of 2-2-2-5 Corsair RAM, 250G H/D, DVD burner, SLi'ed 7800GTX's and Vista Home Premium. He doesn't want to upgrade (stubborn old sod) but mum has insisted and stated she'll going to purchase the case for the setup.

wow. i just sold my old OC'ing skt.A board. i still have my XPm2500+ with the slightly chipped die corner. i never tried to boot it up after i chipped it so i don't know really if it was killed. but i do still have my old skt.A waterblock if anyones interested in it. i have no idea what to do with it beyond paperweight material. it's definitely inferior to the later GT series blocks.

I still have my Sony Vaio PCV-RZ504 socket 478! i just need to reformat the hard drive. I installed a limited edition HIS HD3850 OC Turbo graphics card, (the fastest agp card available) and that machine is such a tank! it can still play almost anything i throw at it including mass effect at 50fps + :) sadly though the intel 3.4ghz p4 ht CPU was starting to become a real bottleneck and newer games were struggling due to the lack of a good dual or quad CPU, so i upgraded to the System in my sig and gave the 478 to my mum who's learning how to use a computer propperly. I've never been happier since :)

I think all I have setting out the the shop is an old socket A celron and an AMD of the same era (I think it's passivly cooled lol). My last 478 was given to an old friend a while back for his daughter to use.

well guys its about half and half. I'd like to start the comp just for the simple fact I have aquired some old stuff for 478. and it will not be graded by Highest clock it will be graded on a percentage. so that basicly means anything below a socket a or 478 and game on. I really dont care if it has a tape drive and runs in dos. so long as a benchmark can be performed and validated via any means. by all mean game on.

And if its 478 and you smoke it... who cares. steal or pay 50 dollars for a dell laying round. :P thats the reason I wold say older stuff cause its cheap to find especially if your n IT.
