Since when does DFI make drivers?

 They included a CD with my board... I though those were DFI drivers... :tooth: This must be one of those rare times when 2 and 2 don't equal 4... :shake:

O, nice Van! Must have had a really good bong lighter!

I give up, I'm just going to install Windows MCE 2005 on this new computer. I wanted to try out Vista, but it must not like something with my computer. I don't have it overclocked yet, and am not trying to install on a RAID, just a clean, standard SATAII drive. Oh well!

My issue is that i don't want to screw up my whole XP installation again.

I mean, yes i can rip the 2x 160megs out (being a 300GB stripe, with a crisp and clean XP install) and put Vista on another 120GB, but where does that bring me? as soon as i put the raid back in Either Vista or XP wont boot anymore...

I want RAID to work, if it doesn't work with this BETA yet, then crap it....

I don't blame you for not wanting to tempt the fates .. Myself, I'm a crazy bastard and can go through a dozen os installs in a week on my machines at times ..

In regards to beta software overall, you are always on your own. You post issues as you see them in the event someone else has an answer and keep on going if they don't.

Ahhh... I found the nVidia gfx card drivers, but no nForce drivrs... Does DFI have any Vista drivers we need to know about?

nforce drivers are on here

If you use the product key Microsoft emailed to you, you can use that to activate it for good, worked for me. I believe you can activate up to 10 PCs with that.

i put in the product key when it asked for it on install but it still has the 13 day thing, do i need to call microsoft and activate it like i had to with xp? or is there another way?

Windows Vista Beta 2 Hardware Compatibility List

From IeXwiki

(Redirected from Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List)

This entry shall enable all ieXwiki members to create a list of hardware that will work with Vista Beta 2 (Build 5384), or won't work, so that it's possible to check that even before installation.

For our previous results, check out the Beta 1 listing or the Build 5219 listing or the Build 5270 listing or the Build 5308 listing or the Build 5342 listing or the Build 5365 listing or the Build 5381 listing.

However, for our software compatiblity results, please see this alternative listing.

NOTES:

* An italic entry denotes a piece of hardware that was reported to work previously, but is unconfirmed for this particular build.

Therefore, new entries should generally NOT be italicized.

* Please mention if it applies to the 32-Bit or the 64-Bit Build!

* Please remove the italic font from entries if it is still working with this build!

* Please post in the right section. Don't just add a "is working this very way" to the not-working list but rather move it to the right section and then add your notes.

Or you can extract the driver from the package. Download LiveDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe (24.451.404 bytes) and extract the /audio/drivers folder and run CTZAPXX.exe to install the drivers. How to add hardware

If your hardware isn't automatically detected and installed by Vista, the first option is to find Vista-built drivers, which are in short supply.

The next method is to use compatability mode to run the driver installation program in "Windows XP" mode. If that fails/does not install ...

Extract or browse to the folder with the .inf files (driver files) for the device, select every .inf file, and right click Install them. After the process has finished, use Device Manager to install by navigating to the .inf files' location and going through them until you find one that is detected. If none work, then tough luck. You'll just have to wait until the manufacturer updates the drivers.

Hmm...i'm not given any options, it just goes straight to XP, but Vista is on the same drive. Do I need a boot loader, and if so, which one should i use?

hey dudes...I just dumped 150MB of RAM off my startup

now instead of hitting the desktop using 500MB, it is only using 350MB heh

services.msc = fantastical

get rid of that ^@$$@# windows defender crap and all the rest of the crap you don't need

some stuff can't be stopped, and some stuff i pondered but then decided to leave for now to see if my initial service tweaking did any good

gonna re-run 3dmark2001 and see if it affects it at all...usual score before tweaks is 17,700-ish

3dmark2003 and 2005 wont even install, 2001SE and 2006 are installed, 2001SE runs, haven't tried 2006 yet

I'm just wondering, are all of you using the 32-bit or the 64-bit version??

I was wondering because I'm using the 64-bit version right now, and when installing the nVidia drivers for my 7900GT, I get a BSOD kind of thing where it looks like the whole screen is artifacting... It kind-of seems like the 64-bit version is not as "fleshed-out" in the drivers department. Should I download the32-bit version or is there a solution?
