Mussels Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 my system just started with these errors today, but it only affects cold boots. Trying the new drivers now.
Mussels Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 It was also accompanied by a horrible sound coming out of the speakers. (I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 4). That sound is so offensive from my 5.1 logitech set in games O.o I have the same problem, however i DO NOT have raid. Just two SATA drives seperately on the ULI controller. Happy_Games, my rig is completely stable, and this issue has only cropped up recently. While it may have to do with RAID, i think its more to do with multiple drives on the controller. For the record, i have a WD200GB SATA 1 hard drive, and a 200GB samsung w/ NCQ. One thing i noticed, your 2x80GB raid you mentioned wont have NCQ support being older drives, how many of us with the bug have NCQ enabled? SiLvABuLLetZ Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 k, so if i install this new rom driver, i don't have to re-install it after i reinstall windows, right? I'm hoping the answer is no. lol
Mussels Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 also something i didnt see in this thread. Taken from the readme of the ULI beta driver on DFI's beta section. 6.2.2.0 1. Solve the problem that sometimes "did not respond within the timeout period" error will be shown in Windows eventlog while system are doing stress test on IOCTL_SCSI_MINIPORT SMART related commands and read/write commands. SiLvABuLLetZ Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Interesting, got a link?
NonDecepticon Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 It's near the bottom of the readme in the beta archive and unfortunately the "fix" is not a "fix" afterall. At least not uniformly.
SiLvABuLLetZ Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 What do you mean it's not a fix? Are you telling me that they said they fixed something when the issue was not addressed?
CPDMF Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Didn't do crap for me. I tried a fresh install with the Beta drivers and bios and by the time windows was finished loading I had 30 ULI errors.

SiLvABuLLetZ Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Actually, why am I laughing, I spent 179 dollars on this.
CPDMF Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I spent the same. I fixed it by adding a 125 dollar PCI-E 1X Highpoint card. Loading windows on it as we speak. We all ended up with it broke off in our butt on this one. I was actually surprised given DFI's bios writing that it actually was able to boot from the add-in card.. Wouldn't boot from a $250 LSI PCI-E 4X SCSI card though.
