cmay119 Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I have never touched the Antec HE's, but have used their TP's forever & a few TP II's. Just west of the Strip off DI. Hey david, I can vouch for the Antech NeoHE 550W as running my uncles rig pretty damn nicely. here's his specs: Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D Athlon X2 4400+ (89w) @ 2.6GHz 1.48vCore ATi X1900XT Stock settings 2x1024 Kingston Memory 2x160GB SATA Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 RAID-0 1x40GB Western Digital Cavier PATA 40GB HDD 2xDVD+/-RW Drives X-Fi Platinum w/ Breakout Box PCI Wireless NIC 3x80mm Case Fans 1x120mm Case Fan DangerDen Watercooling Although not the beefiest of rigs, it's by far more power hungry then my rig. Although he's only had it going for about 3 Days now, he's been dual priming it for pretty much the whole time without a PSU hiccup (Either Prime or Oblivion). I personally am impressed with the performance of this Modular PSU and would recommend to anyone on a non-SLI/Crossfire system. Since I haven't seen it's performance on a Dual-GPU setup yet, I can't recommend it for such an application. Please note as well, to pretty much take my opinion of the PSU with a grain of salt. As I don't have a Digital Multi-meter, I can't read true voltages. But in smartguardian the voltages stayed consistent and did not fluctuate when put under heavy stress such as Dual Prime. So that should atleast count for something. Just my $.02 I'm just happy to know that Antec has stepped up a little bit and started releasing a quality product to compete with todays big boys in the PSU marktet. They seemed to be fallin' behind a little bit and it's nice to know that there is another option out there if you're in the market for a new PSU. davidhammock200 Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Here's an interesting question. I was wondering if my current Enermax 535W PSU (24pin/4pin) was enough to keep my motherboard stable? The manual recommands a PSU with (24pin/8pin) setup, but I figure it was for power-hungry Prescotts and its siblings. The reason I am asking is because anytime I swap memory modules my current rig refuses to POST until I pull-out the CMOS battery for a couple of seconds and put it back in. The system also takes a few seconds after pressing the power button to power-up. Yesterday, when I was stress-testing and tweaking my system within Windows and need to reboot for changes. Windows was doing its typical seqeience until it completely froze and the LEDs on the case when blank. I naturally power-down the system and it refuse to POST, until I gave the board a 15 second breather. The Enermax has enough power for your rig. Yes it has enough power. Try using a 4-pin P4 to 8-pin EPS adaptor, if this helps then buy a new PSU with native 8-pin EPS.There is a link to an adaptor at the end of the PSU Guide. red930 Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 For a while, I thought my new power supply was fine (Enermax FMA 535W). Rock stable voltages all slightly above what the values should be (ie 12.02, etc). My hard drive recently died. So I bought an 80 gig WD caviar. Plug it in, memtest for a while (20 or so passes for #5 & #8, and then 8 hours of the full test). Sounds good so far. Install windows. Install drivers (tried both Omega and CCC). Half Life 2/Counterstrike: Source will periodically crash, especially when trying to run resolutions and AA/AF settings that my card should eat. I've checked to see if overclocking/underclocking the graphics card makes a difference. Not really. Even with stock settings it'll still crashing. I've managed to get 3dmark05 to run fine (yields about 6216 @ stock) The kicker is, I can't SP2004 or Prime95 blend more than 5 minutes. It just fails horribly. Now, here's why I believe it to be a power supply issue... Here's the voltage readings via both Speedfan and Everest: CPU Core: 1.31V +3.3 V: 3.26 V +5 V: 5.05 V +12 V: 11.84 V <= This is at idle -12 V: -8.82 <= uhhh? -5 V: -0.23 <= ?? Now, I know not to trust programs, but this still sets of a little red flag for me. BIOS is reading slightly higher, with +12 V around 11.90V Here are my temperatures (idle/load): CPU: 22-23C / 30C Chipset: 32 C / haven't checked (I'm pretty sure it isn't that warm) GPU: 28-29C / 50 C (max is fully clocked -- 590 / 590 on the graphic card) Hard drive: 27C Is my power supply just foobared or what? red930 Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Ok, a little continuance from before (read 2 posts before) +12V drops to +11.78 at full load. I should be worried, right?

Thanks, Nate Neither -5V nor -12V are used, so your software is reading noise & line float, this is meaningless. You must test with an O'scope, SVM or DMM for the results to have any meaning. Your software shows all voltages to be well within their proper ranges. Test like this: http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/show...ad.php?t=137886 Good Luck, Dave
