mazakman Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Hi everyone, Merry Christmas to all. For those that are celebrating Christmas, what have you got planned for this evening, any good eats and treats? I've been cooking most of the day (the wife had to work). We're having roast turkey, French Canadian meat pies, chicken pot pies, mashed potatoes , gravies... and smoked sausage that has been aged for 10 days. SMeeD Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Thanks! Merry Christmas to everyone! That dinner sounds awesome, also a lot like what my family has every year.... but what is a French Canadian meat pie? Plans for the evening... Off to my Aunt's house and then to my Grandparent's to help cook dinner, exchange gifts and meet with a bunch of other friends and family. Its my 18th birthday today as well so its even more exciting than usual.
mazakman Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 (edited) French Canadian meat pie is basically ground beef, veal and pork mixed with nutmeg and a hint of cinammon but I can't remember the rest of the spices, it's darn tasty though. I can ask the wife for the recipe if you like. Oh yeah the gifts. I'll be installing a few things on my youngest son's computer later tonight. the older guys can basically do there stuff themselves. At the moment the kids and I are waiting for my wife to arrive along with a few friends. We'll open a bottle of wine or two and settle down at the table for supper real soon. I'll be making a toast to my parents and lost friends, God rest their souls... Edited December 24, 2007 by mazakman

Andrewr05 Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 I suggested the possibility of frying a turkey for christmas (I even offered to stand out in the cold and fry it myself), everyone scoffed at me and said "hell no!". I have no idea why, fried turkey is awesome, I mean who wouldn't want some nice crispy fried turkey for christmas?

romeo55 Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 I'll try to get my sound card to fully work with Linux, along with Thunderbird, VLC, networking, and flash/shockwave for the next couple days. Somehow, ubuntu said my mic input was my line in, and now nothing works I'll hang out with some friends, and have a big filipino dinner... other than that, I'll do nothing. What a wonderful christmas!
