Boinker Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 So I installed and opened up the Epic games launcher today. Shortly after this I noticed my fans are ramping up. With a quick check I noticed that the Epic Games launcher, while open on the desktop, was ramping things up to 95-100% load. Not that this is a new thing. Apparently this has been going on sense Epic games launcher 2.90 So fun fact. Want a light stability tester? Install the epic games launcher and leave it open on the desktop. Works great. SpikeSoprano Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I had to install it last week for RDR2, just opened it and nothing unusual with mine, although I never run the game from it as it has to connect to rockstar anyway so I just use the RS launcher. ir_cow Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Hmm.. I haven't noticed it increasing CPU load yet and I've been using it the launcher since day 1.

Could be a weird combination including EGS though, or something else entirely. For example, recently after a restart the fans in my computer were running a bit high for idle. Nothing unusual temperature wise, and they weren't running louder than they would with an actual load, but doing so at idle, so I left it. Restarted earlier today (installing the new AMD drivers) and they are as quiet as they normally are.

Cespenar Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Bit late, I know, but would this ramp up work with a CPU water cooler pump?
RHKCommander959 Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 It's just the botnet configuring and reaching out, I wouldn't worry about it...
