Hyper Threaded Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I switched to MX-4, after I ran out of MX-2. Both are easy to use and provide good contact on a variety of heatsinks.

Drdeath Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) Toothpaste is the best. Nope, breaks down rather quicky. Not good advice. Even funnier that article should be banned. Edited January 3, 2012 by Drdeath

d6bmg Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Toothpaste is the best. Seriously, that misleading article should be removed. Imagine one is using toothpaste along with 2600K+stock heat sick fan. = boom! fireworks!
sword_fish Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 i'm using Tuniq TX-3 atm, it's far better than the V8's OEM TIM. here i found my old screenie showing my temps with the V8's TIM: current temps with TX-3: tho it was PITA applying the TX-3 (tough viscosity) yet it gave better results i'll try the TX-4 next time if i were due to change my TIM. Drdeath Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Most of the tims listed are just a few degrees apart, LOL
mikedosul Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I was doing some cleaning today and ended up swapping my AS5 for Antec Formula 7 and I've seen a couple (2-3) degree drop at idle. This is as good as the sensors are on a Q9550 at low temps anyways. I haven't loaded it up yet but will let you know if you would like. For reference, I'm using a CNPS-10Xtreme modded to take a 140mm fan with 120mm holes on an EP45-UD3P.
