Not sure if anyone has seen this story today, but I wanted to share with OCC!

News release from the hospital in Boston where he recieved his transplant.

Some video before the surgery and an interview with my sister.

My younger brother was in a very bad car accident in November of 2001, almost 10 years ago, where he was hit with almost 8,000 volts. It left his face disfigured, he lost 2 fingers on his right hand, and his left leg was amputated just below the knee due to the damage. Since that time, modern medicine has made some huge advancements! I am still amazed that the movie Face Off is now a reality. The surgery was a huge success, and he is recovering quite nicely. I haven't been able to speak about it until today when Brigham and Woman's Hospital did a press release, and I am still not allowed to go into any details about the procedure. So please, don't ask any questions about the surgery, I will update this thread as I am allowed. But, even just this initial story to me is such an amazing deal that I figured the OCC community would enjoy it!

Hey Speed,

Thank you for sharing. That so made my day - in fact made my whole week. An absolutely AMAZING story. One that gives us pause to be thankful for every little thing that we have and cherish in our lives. And, to see those that have much greater challenges than most of us do - benefit from the advancements in medical technology and God's grace and mercy.

I'm so happy for your brother, you and your family! Your sister's interview was outstanding too by the way. Hope you can keep us posted on his progress and best of luck to you guys.

And for anyone that wonders if there is any goodness left in humanity - just look towards the donor and his family. What a decision that must have been. God bless them too.
