AddictedGamer93 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 GTX 570 or HD 6970? Im leaning toward the 570, due to temperature and noise, but now that the 6970 has been reviewed, im not so sure. What do you guys think?
Nyt Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Well the 6970 beats the GTX570 in nearly every benchmark . But its more noisy and hotter . If you're willing to handle a louder and hotter system for more performance than go for it . But the 6970 is also very very big . 11.3 inches I heard ? Make sure your case is big enough . What resolution are you gaming at ? Which card is cheaper in your country and by how much ?
AddictedGamer93 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Yea, Id have to chop my hard drive rack out to fit a 6970. Im gaming at 1600 x 900 and an EVGA GTX 570 is $350 (im in the u.s.). And as long as it isnt louder than two 5770's at 50% fan speed, im happy. Dont mind heat. And do you think i can keep my current psu? Its a Ultra LSP 650, 38 amps on the 12v rail. IVIYTH0S Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I like the 570 better, the 6970 really surprised me as far as still being pretty good but they are about the same with the 570 being cheaper
Shadowtroop Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 if you are going to be gaming at 1600x900 why not go with a 6950? its competitive with the GTX570 and is 50 bucks cheaper
AddictedGamer93 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 How well do you think the 6970 will perform once drivers mature?
IVIYTH0S Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 How well do you think the 6970 will perform once drivers mature? only time will tell I suppose, I hope it does improve enough to warrant the 20 extra dollars
sticknstone Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I read that the card size is 10.7" and on the xfx website it is 11.3". The .5 difference is most probably the slot bracket.
AddictedGamer93 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Crap. I still cant make my mind up. I like both cards.
potatochobit Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 My computer has almost the same specs as you and I went with a 6850 and a 40" TV probably you should get a 6950 and save some money sounds like you have a small monitor, that's not necessarily a bad thing but the resolution won't increase so getting higher FPS is irrelevant once it is high enough
