More info on Fermi.. die size, TDP, 448sp

So basically, we're looking at 448 cores, not 512 like we've initially heard. Board power is also pretty high... 225W vs 188W for a 5870.

Yes, it's the Tesla part, but the specs should be very very close.. most likely less memory (768MB would make sense considering the 384 bit bus) on desktop parts and possibly higher clocks since less memory chips gives them a few more watts to work with.

 

Die size is estimated to be around 530mm2. For reference, RV870 is 384mm2. Fermi is huge!

 

Now, just hope Fermi isn't NVIDIA's R600, late and hot :)

Not that impressed to be honest. Memory clock is damn high... but is that refering to "DDR speed" or just the clock frequency (no data rate multiplication)? Because if it's just the speed double data rate is, it means 900-1100 core clock, which is lower than HD 5870s.

 

These better perform good. I want a cheap HD 5870 to crossfire in a few months.
