Coors Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I think it's an expensive gimmick
Marne_Aeok Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 waste of money. if your provider is quick than your internet is quick. dont need a fancy OMGWTFBBQHOMERSIMPSONFTW NIC for that. also most ppl arnt running some crazy highend network in there homes. most have simple ISP>Router>multiple PCs at home setup. kingdingeling Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Useless! Every motherboard has an NIC integrated these days, all you need is right there. A NIC card is like 10$ nowadays, so there's really no use for a 150$ NIC
Kash Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 There are some tangible benefits. However, not for the price they're asking.
Cyrosis Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 There are some tangible benefits. However, not for the price they're asking.I've also seen benchmarks where it performs slightly worse than on board.

Verran Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I've seen some tests that seem to show benefits, but I just can't see the point for that kind of money. As always, this sort of stuff is marketed at people who shop by highest price.
ir_cow Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 (edited) i even read an article from the creator saying it was a "gimmick" in a sense and "not for everyone" which cracks me up. he worked on making the nic cards to intel than made his own company. the only difference is how the protocols are stacked and sent out/in which is driver based. fire_storm Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Unless you have a lot of money laying around otherwise it's worthless. Maybe if it was $20-$30 dollars it be worth getting but for the price of $150 it be better to spend the money on something else in your rig. Waco Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 They're far more useful on a server or computing node than for gaming. You'll never see a difference in gaming unless you're using a horridly slow CPU.
