tkrow21 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) So around yesterday I noticed my downloads were faster (from about 200kbps to 3.5mbps), and I get excited. I was paying for the 256kbps service. So today I check on speedtest.net and I have a download rate of 16mbps and upload rate of 500kbps. My friend who had faster internet before now gets 25mbps download rate. Did Road Runner up their service? I can stream HD content without pausing, ridiculous! :thumbs-up: Not to mention the HD Box we got from the same company is also packed with a ridiculous amount of features. SMeeD Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Last time ATT adjusted their DSL packages they decided not to adjust my bill, so I was paying $5 more than the 6mb service and getting 3mb service. Im glad to see it works the other way too
ir_cow Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) this is when people get confused. 256kps=25.6kb/s 3mpbs=300kb/s 25mbps=2.5mb/s so thats really slow roadrunner i think. i get 1.5mb/s down and 120kb/s up. Why do you think anyone is confused? 16 Mbps is not slow by any stretch of the word; neither is 500 Kbps upstream.
greengiant912 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 The internet is about the same for me. However I did notice that a better quality software update for the DVR went out fixing alot of the speed issues I was having with it. Also HD service has seemed to improve as well I am on Time Warner for cable that is. I get roadrunner threw them as well.
LoArmistead Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) I've got RR and last I checked the package we have was 12mbps? My download speeds can hit 1.5MB/s easily so it sounds about right. Upload is crappy (512kbps?) but I don't do any hosting or uploading of large files so I'd take the faster download speed any day of the week. Compxpert Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Hmm I <3 comcast. I peak at around 20mbps down and 1.5mbps up... although I more often then not only get 15mbps but the upload usually is at 1.5mbps.
ir_cow Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) why would you love a company that stops torrents? i much rather go back to 56k than ever join up with comcast. Edited March 23, 2009 by hornybluecow
Temp08 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 why would you love a company that stops torrents? i much rather go back to 56k than ever join up with comcast. My uTorrent combined with Tomato on my wrt54gl seems to work just fine on Comcrack, not that hard to get around their guff.
