Booster Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Hey guys, I finally got to see one tonight searching for some water. They have been coming here for a few months now while we got rid of buckets of water they still seem to dig through my mom's pots and dishes for every bit of water. My mom tries to grow some small fruits and peppers and I know this is the reason why they keep coming back for more but we don't want to stop growing them so they have to go. Hopefully theres someone that has delt with these guys and was able to get rid of them, any tips can help.
tasr Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Mossberg 835 :eek2: Or Get some traps from the human Society
WintersFury Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 If you do a bit of research you may find some plant / spray or something that they hate the smell of that will keep them away. Or you could lace the water with hot sauce... I'm sure they wouldn't like that Kinda like the hot peper dusted bird seed that nothing but birds will eat
Oddzball Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 You know, we ued to just setup big metal jaws of death traps. Sorta like a mouse trap, but for larger things. Sorry if you are an animal lover, but racoons are nasty mean creatures and I would rather not have them running around my back yard in the city. You could buy some glue trap. it works.. well... the only thing my maid caught was a snake and some rats. Just smear it on a BIG piece of cardboard ,and a cup of water in the middle. Booster Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Haha some funny tips, I asked the same question on the vent server I was on and one of them brought up using a nuke like AG said. Like tasr said about raccoons and hot sauce they seem to enjoy the peppers my mom is growing or it could possibly be that the peppers aren't hot at all haha. Wintersfury I also read about the spray thing where it makes the coons think a wolf or some larger predator marked their scent which I may try but I'll try the pepper idea I'll just have to get some real hot stuff. I've also thought about traping or even shooting them but I don't have a pelletgun.. yet I love animals but not enough that I'm considering to do some harm to keep them away. fariss Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I live in the Adirondack mountains. Wildlife is everywhere. If you can figure out how to get it there you can have one of the 2 bears that frequent my house. It will take care care of the coons for you,
drmalenko Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 You could give in and put them a bucket of water out where they wouldnt bother other things... OR You could have some fun, dress up like GI JOE, get some 22 short rounds as they will never be heard in the city... enjoy sniping them.. fariss Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Seriously, though, spreading moth balls around the property line works on skunks. You might try it on coons. I just don't know how you'd get them off of the moths or how many it would take...............
