What programs do you find useful to have on your Flash Drive? I just got a 4Gb one and I'd like to get the best out of it.

Plus, whats the best for partitioning it ?

I use mine for:

Miscellaneous files that I want to backup temporarily

Adult material...

File transfers

other random tasks

As for permanent fixations I would say:

Firefox portable

Open Office Portable

other than that it all depends on what I want and where I'm going, if I know I'll need a certain program I'll load it up onto it...

I don't partition either. My portable folder has 1.2GB of programs ... totally crazy. It is bootable to a utility suit of emergency programs that has an unmentionable name but starts with H and is on version 9.5. I don't boot unless I need to repair something.

All my computers have a Portable Apps folder and I keep them all synced.

If I can find or make a program portable I use it.

One thing you will find handy is universal extractor. Many programs are built to install but can be extracted and run portable without modification. Just drop the program on UE's shortcut.

Here are some interesting sites that deal with portable apps to get started.

I use mine for mostly file/apps transfers and board work. Have a menu set up broke down by board then alpha, beta and official bios files. Also have the various version of MemTest in the menu. Makes it handy regardless of the boards I'm currently testing.

I have an 8Gb that wont work with my vista ultimate laptop so it sets on my desk doing nothing. I carry a 512 that has the stuff needed to access the vice presidents wireless network, and a 1Gb that I carry a few apps, drivers when needed, and temp back up when needed.
