iKillSteal Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 They filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy today, apparently. Sad to see them go but in reality it was bound to happen sooner or later when you look at who they were competing against(newegg, tigerdirect, ZZF, etc). Guess it's back to luck of the draw if you want to get a certain stepping.
Andrewr05 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Seems weird to have just been on their website early this morning...
damian Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 i preferred newegg but i also preferred Clubit over ZZF sad to see this, they had many great deals but, its true the competition was to much to handle
kingdingeling Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 No way! ClubIT was awesome, I ordered there once or twice when I was in the US, they had the best service all around!
ccokeman Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 To compete on price you need volume, maybe it was not there and they just could not hold out any longer.
Verran Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I ordered my Q6600 there. For a few bucks over the egg I was happy to get the guaranteed G0. But other than that, I can't say I'm overly surprised. I found the browse/search functionality to be rather limited. Same with ZZF, actually. Say what you want about newegg these days, but their advanced search is the best out there by far. The sorting options are simply awesome.
Pur3vil Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I looked around clubit but their prices did seem higher then tiger and newegg which where where I generally shop, and usually end up going with tiger. Don't have anythign aginst newegg, but when I do my shopping, tiger usually beats neweggs prices on identical items, like this past order and my memory, Newegg had it fior 47 flat. Tiger had it for 60 then 5 instant, and a 30 mir, bringing it to 30. And Tiger also had a 30 rebate on the video card that newegg didn't have listed. Kash Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Apparently [H] has a bit more info: PC Club / Club IT Done? The fact that they just bailed on the employees without notice is seriously messed up.
Pur3vil Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) Talking about utter BS, poor guys, Generally it's known when a business is going under, you know the grapevine talks. In this case it alsmot sounds like something sudden came up. Stated earlier they wern't necasarily the cheapest either, too many companies competing with one another and someone is going to go down. kingdingeling Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 You have to give the Service crown to these guys though! They are simply the best, comparable to EVGA's service when I dealt with them in 2005/early 2006!
