The term "oriental" is racist because it is a term normally used to describe inanimate objects of an asian design.

That should get you kids started. Living in Seattle which has a HUGE Asian-American population, older white people (my grandparents) use the term quite loosly, and in public it leads to a lot of angry looks. If you want to know more do some research. There are a lot of embarrassed white people online who write about mis-use of the word.

And guess what, EVERY one of the categories in the poll can be used to describe inanimate objects, esp. black and white! geez. I'll poll all my asian friends and let you know.
