If you follow the money you will see that most of the mainstream media is owned by giant corporations.  It used to be about exposure but now it's about mind control.  And it's not about politics except that it benefits the corporate agenda to keep people divided and contentious.  The corporations own the media, most of the government, and most of the food and medical industries.  Now the push is on to disarm the population.  Do the math before it's too late.

:withstupid: This, this, this, and this again...mainstream media is for mind control...I bet most of you think taxes are bad. That concept stems from a giant media conglomerate that used it's influence to become richer!

yes of course.  the solution is for people to have guns.  (as if we lived in an infantile dream world where the military of the United States could be overthrown by people with hunting rifles)

Everyone who knows what's right should have a gun and shoot those who don't.

Perfect solution.  what could possible go wrong with that?

Screw democracy.  Might is right.

That's about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.  There are probably close to a half a billion guns owned by responsible citizens in the US, and somehow 99.99% percent of them never kill another human.  However probably 100,000 or more of them are used every year to prevent rapes, murders and home invasions, over 90% percent of the time with no shots fired.  It makes perfect sense to disarm the honest law abiding citizens to prevent crimes committed by armed crooks who care nothing about gun laws.  As for taking up arms against a tyrannical government, never count out a population determined to defend a hard won democracy.

A big part of the problem is the media.  Reports of violence are sensationalized, while anything supporting gun ownership is buried.  How about that CDC report ordered by Obama to support his anti gun campaign?  It came in and did not support gun control.  No reporting.  How about that recent FBI report on gun statistics over the last 15 years that showed that in a climate of relaxing gun laws, gun violence has sidnificantly declined since the 1990's?  Right, you didn't see it.  Or the recent Harvard University study where they actually armed an entire neighborhood and crime went down?  Not news.  Remember the school incident where multiple students were stabbed in a horrific wilding incident?  I'm not surprised, it was reported once and never mentioned again, not about guns.

The media try to sway public opinion by reporting only the picture they want you to see rather than both sides of the coin. By doing so you have a society that only gets half the message and are easily led one way or the other.

Local stories about gun violence only make it to that wider national audience to try and sway public opinion........ when its politically advantageous. .......

Guns have been and always be part of our culture and will always be.

Would that soldier in Great Britain still be alive if someone had put the maniac down that hacked him to death with knives? Could be!

Any weapon in the hands of a determined person is going to be a problem. I dont care what it is. When you look at the stats more people are killed each year with a hammer blow than with a so called "assault rifle".

There are people who only understand brute force as a means of negotiation.

To prepare for peace you must prepare for war. It does not mean you need to be the biggest bully on the block but have that ability in your back pocket.  A sure swift ass whipping or the potential for it is a pretty strong deterrent. Peace is not always the best option...............

The average hunting rifle is much more powerful than the average military rifle.

Even if they werent it isn't that hard to to use a low powered weapon to acquire a high powered weapon.

We are going to have access to 'military' gear anyways because the troops are citizens too, not all of them will fight for the government against other citizens.

As Phil said, there are A LOT of people with guns in the USA and pretty much no one talks like that, owning guns is not implicit to being anarchical or unstable.

All of the talk about might being right and shooting people who don't agree with you usually is coming from the anti gun side, real gun owners don't think like that.  Real gun owners are responsible upstanding citizens with a wide range of interests.  Some just love guns for the precise beautiful mechanical instruments that they are, some hunt, some are target shooters, some just want to protect their families, some are dedicated constitutionalists, many are concerned about preserving the country's freedom.  And there are many combinations of the above.  Overall gun owners are among the most responsible members of our society, the ones you can count on to keep a level head in hard times.  Too much of the anti sentiment is born of ignorance, they have never walked a mile in the shoes of a gun owner, and simply don't understand, and even fear guns.
