ir_cow Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 for $1000 think i can get 3 680s, way to overprice nvidia because i doubt this will make the 680s go down in price. I also can't imagine what the 650 or 670 prices to be, $450 lol
Nyt Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 $1000 for two mid range GPU's on one card that should sell for $750 I'd rather get a single 680 and then jump ship to the GK110 when it arrives

bp9801 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Or jump down to two HD 4870's in Xfire? I don't think any computer hardware will ever truly make Nyt happy.
Rofltroll Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 1000$ for basically 2 mid-ranged gpus. I find that ridiculous really.
Waco Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 1000$ for basically 2 mid-ranged gpus. I find that ridiculous really. They aren't mid range. They're the fastest GPUs you can buy.
Nyt Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 They aren't mid range. They're the fastest GPUs you can buy. They're GK104. The GTX670 specs have been released and its only got one SLI finger - Just like the GTX560 Ti has one finger - more evidence that the 680 is the GTX570 successor and is mid range in the Kepler series. They may appear high-end since AMD's high end card is beaten by it but doesnt take away the fact that Nvidia intended the 680 to be mid range but are now milking the market as any company would. Even the PCB screams mid range, the 7970 has a far better PCB. The 680 only has 5 phase power, 256bit (common on mid range cards) and dual 6 pin connectors. The mem bandwidth on the 680 only matches the 580 mem bandwidth at 192Gb, a far cry from the 264Gb/s of the 7970. The GK110 is the GTX580 succesor with probably more phases, 8+6pin and at least 384bit.

Blame AMD for having their highest card only perform @ mid-range level
