MJCRO Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I picked up a 2600K a few days ago, and I'm waiting to get the order in for a Z68X-UD7 and some RAM, I got a DK chilling in my build now, but I have to see if I still got the LGA 1156/1155 bracket for it, but smh; if I don't, I'm prob gonna toss it and get a Noctua, but would it be worth it in terms of OC'ing? Any input is gladly appreciated!
Owenisbad Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I say try the xigmatek and if it isn't good enough then pick up a d14.
smduff Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 The 2600K runs cool enough that I doubt you will need the NHD14 IMO.
imm0rt41 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I would be interested in that xigmatek cooler if you were to sell it
rmb938 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 It should be fine. If you toss it keep the fan because xigmateks fans are actually pretty good. I have 5 of them for my case and they are pretty quiet and push a good amount of air.
IVIYTH0S Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Keep what you have, the extra cooling from the Noctua wont get you appreciably higher overclocks

Any input is gladly appreciated! The best thing to do would be to get the brackets for the do and go from there. I wouldn't just go get the d14 cause its to heavy in my opinion. If your looking for the best cooling performance go water cooling. It will be more expensive but it will dwarf the noctua in performance and will look much better in a case. Drdeath Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Darknight and D-14 are only a few degrees apart.
MJCRO Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) Hell yeah! I'm def. gonna prob end up doing that! I'll give the DK a nice hot bath in Turtle Ice car wash soap and then rinse off the contacts with some brake cleaner to get any dust or residue off. Anyone know where I could pick up those brackets for LGA 1155? Edited July 5, 2011 by MJCRO

dr_bowtie Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I'd hold off on any thoughts on the D-14 for now....its seems they are having issues with them and some arent working as well as they should and people are having issues getting them replaced...it also seems Noctua doesnt have very good return service....I know a few people who have gotten defective D-14s and they arent getting anywhere with Noctua at all...Google search it you'll see
