tkrow21 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Like how they took their time with left 4 dead 2... oh wait. L4D =! Valve L4D = Turtle Rock Studios
Guest_Jim_* Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 If nothing else they've gotten me to start playing through Portal again. Currently at 14/26 for this new achievement, but I need to get to bed. To those of you that are also trying to this, and may not have thought of it yet, turn off (or at least down) the game music. It helps the radio's music stand out and makes it easier to find. (It's hidden in each level as is where you have to put it to activate the green light.) Hopefully I can finish it off tomorrow. Andrewr05 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) you may want to check your sourcesTRS created L4D. Weeks after it was released Valve bought TRS, and henceforth took the credit for L4D. tkrow21 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 TRS created L4D. Weeks after it was released Valve bought TRS, and henceforth took the credit for L4D... +1, you can find this info pretty much anywhere. Www.turtlerockstudios.com. They also made cs:source which is why you don't see it getting updates like TF2 or DOD:S.
Deathmineral Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) Them buying TRS isn't exactly something I would call a good reason to rush a game like they did. Just saying it was kind of a disappointment. Edited March 2, 2010 by Deathmineral
tkrow21 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Them buying TRS isn't exactly something I would call a good reason to rush a game like they did. Just saying it was kind of a disappointment. But it wasn't Valve. Turtle Rock Studios was pretty far along with Left 4 Dead when Valve swoops in and buys them out (they had been close partners before anyway), and Valve simply managed the bug fixing for the game. After the release of the first game, Turtle Rock Studios is ready to pump out a quick sequel, and Valve is surprised by this, but Gabe Newell told them to simply go ahead as they had proved themselves with Counter-Strike: Source and the first Left 4 Dead. All I know is that before Left 4 Dead 2's launch, Valve shut down Turtle Rock Studios, which only suggests that they weren't happy with what they did. Also, Claymeow, looking at your signature I'm surprised you didn't know this o.O
Andrewr05 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 (edited) UPDATE: Update for Portal makes it so that when you carry these radios to certain spots, they beep morsecode The sound files actually contain images The images have difficult to read letters and numbers in various parts When those are put together and translated, they give a phone number The phone number points to a BBS that prints out those images in ASCII art People are trying to figure out what the art is LINK Edited March 3, 2010 by Andrewr05
Andrewr05 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 (edited) UPDATE Some people are speculating that either HL2 Ep. 3 or HL3 is going to be Portal 2, some things are leaning to be that way. Update: (taken from HERE ) Portal gets surprise update March 1st People see new mystery achievement People play and see the radio in the beginning room now has a green light Carry it around and notice it makes strange broadcast interference noises in certain places Locate and place all 26 of these mystery radios for achievement Smart people yank .wav files out of game content folders and run them through SSTV programs LINK Produces 22 cryptic image files in a numbered sequence, 4 morse code Somebody runs the number string through an md5 hash translator and gets a landline number Internet traces it to Kirkland, WA (near Valve HQ) People find out its not a phone/fax line but a data line hosting a BBS and telnet it Use a clue from one of the files to figure out the BBS user/password login info [backup/backup] End up with a bunch of weird ASCII artwork: Link 1 Link 2 New messages from the BBS! It looks like...Chell with the portal gun? LINK This announcement has three popular theories in itself: The Orange Box 2 Half Life 2: Episode 3 Portal 2 Combining the HL and the Portal worlds. CowKing Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 that seems interesting, but I'd like portal to not be combined (as in one game) until later
