Double Density Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Have you tried your video card in his computer? My guess is it still won't work. You've tried multiple motherboards to no effect. It's time to look at what hasn't been pulled out. Hard drive? Optical drive? Case? You never mentioned it, but I assume the fans are powering up? I'm not familiar with eVGA motherboards, do they have any sort of post reporting?
Double Density Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Monitor and monitor cables OK? Cheers Paul Those are very strong possibilities. The monitor is plugged in isn't it? That's silly tech support issue #1.
Mr. Patman Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Both monitors/cables function correctly, and both Video Cards function correctly when used in MY motherboard. Havn't tried the second PCIx slot on either of his motherboards, but it seems odd and uncommon to me that both primary PCIx slots (on his orig. board, and the 750i, would be faulty). Also, his RAM, and hard drive work in my machine as well...
damian Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Has it ever done this before or is it a new rig?
redtigerdragon Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 so it doesn't POST or anything, right? Nothing from the get go except "power saver mode" or the equivalent.
Mr. Patman Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 It's a fairly new rig, and no it does not POST at all...
redtigerdragon Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 did you say you already replaced the proc and tried a new one. Other than that i think you may have gotten a bad PCI slot on those boards and should RMA the new one.
damian Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Any beeps?
Mr. Patman Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Any beeps? No beeps, and yes the processor was swapped out for a new unit... This just seems odd, I feel like we're missing something...
redtigerdragon Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 just a shot in the dark, but maybe the cmos battery is dead? You could try replacing it...
IVIYTH0S Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 just a shot in the dark, but maybe the cmos battery is dead? You could try replacing it... wouldn't the computer still function though? i mean if they unplug the computer than all the cmos settings are lost but other that, I'd assume that it'd function with out it. (unless the battery bridges two important connections so that you must have a good battery at all times)
