now i own a Q6600 @ 3GHz.... should i change to e8400? coz im a gamer type.... should i? sell my Q6600 and get new e8400..

why can't you make that decision on your own? seems like a personal choice to me. you know where to look for reviews, so look at them and compare. choose what you think is best.

You can always clock it a little higher, but you can never add more cores, remember that.

E8400 is $149.99 at tigerdirect right now.

 

i7 920 is $269.99.

 

Id keep whatcha got though.

Q6600 at even stock speeds is no slouch, it will be good for a few more years to come..

Yeah, keep the q6600, it's only gonna appear faster in the immediate future as things begin to take advantage of more cores. As Ste said, it's no slouch even at stock speeds, I just oc'd mine to get a better 3dmark score

The E8400 can beat quad cores, but only when it is overclocked to like 4ghz+, as I have seen in your other threads you don't have AC, and your temperatures aren't very low, so it would be useless for you. You shouldn't waste your time upgrading your computer when you can't even afford AC.
