Onion Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) This stuff http://www.greenfarmparts.com/John-Deere-Corn-Head-Grease-AH80490-p/ah80490.htm? It's a specialty grease, right? What does it do that normal grease doesn't? Corn Head Grease is a carefully formulated lithium 12-hydroxystearate grease with oxidation, rust and corrosion inhibitors, extreme pressure (EP) additives for antiwear and heavy shock loading, and a special polymer to control oil separation during storage. The base oil used is a high viscosity index lubricant which provides excellent stability under various temperature conditions. Corn Head Grease has superior water tolerance and resists water washout, exhibits good high temperature capabilities and has outstanding mechanical stability by retaining its consistency in hard use. Cold Temperature Performance: The high quality base oils used provide excellent cold temperature performance. Reduced Oil Separation: The special polymers reduce the oil separation tendency during storage and inactivity. E.P. Performance: The EP additives provide excellent prevention of wear and the capability to withstand heavy shock loading. Resists Water Washout: The soap thickener provides excellent resistance to water washout. Typical Application Corn Head Grease is recommended where the equipment manufacturer recommends: Edited August 22, 2013 by Onion
camaro_dude15 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 you made that more complicated than it needed to be, lol its thinner than your regular grease its "almost" gear oil, its the same stuff as a lot of cv joint grease's
ccokeman Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 SInce its farm related it could be some west virginia cornhole grease..........
Phil Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) Corn head grease is thinner as camaro said, type 0 as opposed to the common type 2. Only available from John Deere. It flows when warmed up. People use it in gearboxes that leak gear oil or that are known to be prone to leak. Type 00 is sometimes also used and is thinner yet but is too thin for a grease gun. I don't know about corn hole grease, I bow to ccokeman's superior knowledge on that, lol. Edited August 23, 2013 by Phil
