@Mizzer:

I have that start button freezing thing too, I had it on the ASUS RD580 board too (Don't recall having it on my DFI LP NF4 board but can't remember) .... only in 32-bit windows though, I've not noticed it under x64.

Is your HD activity light solid when this happens?

ok good to know that the disabling of the ULi RAID management tool does nothing longterm towards solving this.. i am seeing my future and it is a several hundred dollar RAID card with this motherboard... i was planning on spending that money on a DX10 card... ULi needs to come up with a fix here asap.

@pmrdij:

The problem with adding a RAID card is where do you put it?

Are there any PCI-E ones out? If you use PCI you will get a MAX of 133MB/sec which is a joke for a RAID array with >2 drives. :-(

If PCI-e will it squeeze in between the two (potentially) gfx cards and what would that do for the air-flow.

From DFI Tech Support:

The resolution for Uli issue, will coming out by next week. Right now Uli release another beta version 7/22, and we still testing it.

Received August 01, 2006 01:27 AM PST.

Let's hope this works, I don't want to format/reinstall twelve more times.

Please see this http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60680

this card was nice, very small, and wouldnt block any air flow really, i was really happy with it, size wise, but windows would not see any drives on it. drivers for card loaded fine.

I dare to say that the bèta driver does NOT fix the issue! The problems are all gone untill you do a cold boot. The first 2 cold boots Windows would not even load and stressing the HD right after a sucessfull boot will result in a few errors and lockups!

I so hate this board!

have you got pci reset enabled in bios?

That HighPoint controller looks nice alright .... obviously if it works. :)

I had good experience with their RocketRAID 100s in the past.

Having an PCI-E card also has the advantage of easy migration to a new main board if required ....

No. I had that but it went away with the PSU upgrade and driver update.

I checked out the link you provided. I'm not sure if it's helpful seeing as I am not connected to a server. I appreciate the input. :)
