I have yet to have a flu, thankfully. However, I did a cold three time last winter. Sick people kept handing me infected money.

I just don't want it to be the same as GTAIV for PC. Several patches were required, before it was playable. If that means delaying it until June or August, so be it.

Seasonic X560 squeaky fan.
Hyper Threaded replied to Hyper Threaded's topic in Cases, Power Supplies and Modding
I wanted a quick solution. As it stands, I can't really have any downtime with this PC, at all. My plan is to either RMA or attempt to repair the fan myself, after a while. -
Seasonic X560 squeaky fan.

I got my new X750 in today. I'll worry about the old one later. This unit is actually quite nice, it even has stealth cables. -
KVMs can be a bit flakey sometimes. Have you tried resetting it? May be time to open it up and check the soldering and/or capacitors.

Seasonic X560 squeaky fan.

From my understanding, you get a unit from a batch of repaired units. No way they would let you dig around inside a PSU. -
Seasonic X560 squeaky fan.
Hyper Threaded replied to Hyper Threaded's topic in Cases, Power Supplies and Modding
About one year is left on the warranty. However, I'm not sure if the fan simply being noisy is considered a failure. -
In the IT field, consultant is a general term that means you do everything. You'll be expected to be able to do anything they ask and be on-call 24/7. Don't let that put you off, though. Go to the interview and use it for practise, if nothing else.

After a few years of loyal service, my X-560 is developing some nasty fan issues. Either the fan won't spin when it should or it makes awful noises, when it does. While this unit is still under warranty, I have no back-up at all and cant have this PC out of service. Once the warranty does expire (about a year) I want to take the fan out and see if it can be lubed. I doubt it can, having previous experience with these San Ace fans. I already have a new Seasonic X-750 on the way. Strangely, this is a bit cheaper than the 660w and 650w models. I'm ready to get back folding, since I can't let this PSU get hot enough to need the fan.

You make me feel old. -
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Either sheer or shure is fine but, shy-er just sounds silly.

When Walmart is the only option, you have to go in with blinders on and just focus on what you need.

I've decided on the Intel 730 240gb, after reading some articles concerning the gradual slow down of data with the 840 Evo.

Overclocking Gigabyte GTX770 Windforce 3X OC
Hyper Threaded replied to Erosannin's topic in Overclocking and Cooling
You may want to replace your stock thermal paste, if you feel confident enough. This will lower your temperature a few degrees and help you get a better overclock. Make sure you've got enough fans in your case, as well. -
I think the CX series is fine, if you view it in perspective. You could do (much) better but, for the majority of users who aren't enthusiasts, it is enough.

Right now, I have the Kingston V300 as my main/OS drive, which I would like to upgrade to a faster/larger one in a few months. My main dilemma is over whether to go with the cheap favourite Samsung 840 EVO or Intel 730. I see a lot of great things about both. Is there a quantifiable reason to choose one over the other? Any reason to avoid either? Thanks for looking!

Antec P183 or Fractal Design Arc Midi V2
Hyper Threaded replied to technician's topic in Cases, Power Supplies and Modding
The Antec P18x is still a solid case with decent cooling, in fact it's one of the better quiet optimised cases still. You can upgrade case fans if you need more cooling. -

How often does your main computer get rebooted?
Hyper Threaded replied to neddamttocs's topic in OCC Weekly Polls
I have gone months without a restart before. My average for restarting is around 3-4 weeks. -
I've noticed this trend, as well. More people are going to Reddit, which has several subreddits for PCs, gaming and hardware. Their buildapc section has over 200k users. On the whole, this is positive and allows smaller forums to build a better community. Absolute beginners don't really post here now.

Nice build. I don't think I've seen anyone properly mod one of those Phantoms before.- 18 replies

Currently, I've got my GTX 770 and i5-2500k going. As temperatures rise, I may stop GPU folding.

Do you think you'll catch me? I'm starting to squirm.

Serious oversight not to have PWM fans on a new cooler. Their fan control knob seems like something DIYers did ten years ago.

You think the 2.0T is bad, try a VR6 with 260lb-ft. When the conditions are right though, it is a laugh.
