this is just my personal opinion, but I would defently go with one of the slightly older AMD 64 processors (socket 939) and a mobo that would work with it. I would suggest some sort of MSI mobo for you.
CPU

Mobo

And with that mobo, you would be able to use everything that you have, except your video card. (unless its a pci or pcie)
Another suggestion is, if you decide to oc, you should defently get a new cpu cooler, replace the stock cooler. I have not done that yet, therefore i get high temps and dont push it very far
both the cpu and mobo come out to be under 200 including shipping, which is what you said you were willing to spend on a mobo for your p4
Im sure that someone is going to argue that you should go with an Intel chip, but if it were me, I would go with AMD

Memory: (4) 512MB PC3200 DDR
do you mean you have 2 GB
this is another helpful link for an oc guide

I would suggest like andrew said, read as much as you can about it before you attempt to do anything, it will save you frustration and from getting yourself into some problems, trust me.
Oh, yeah, welcome to occ...

I done something like that with my cell phone before, its late at night, dont want to turn the lights on to wake your roomates, so you whip out the old cell phone and plug your flash drive into the computer (no front usb ports).

Hey guys, who here has a folding farm? Im thinking about starting one up and if anyone here has some pictures of one, could you post it on this topic?

I would go with the headset first, unless you have problems with the sound quality, which I run my games on an old SoundBlaster Live! so i would go with the headset first, then if you want a new soundcard go for it...
here are a few nice ones...
-
nice, that was going to be my other problem...no case for it, but thats a good point, it does not need a case, or a monitor
<-----EDIT----->
Yeah I have been having problems with f@h lately, dont know whats been going on so i went back to the graphical version which seems to work fine

Hey guys im looking for some cheap computers to fold on...im looking around $20 a computer, anyone know where i could get some? I know that im going to look when garage sales begin back up in the spring but im looking for sooner
-
Well they have a cable that will let you do from 1 output to 2 inputs...
They have this at KMart, dont know what the name of it is, but I used it in my car for my cd players aux, so I could hook my iPod up to my cd player...
I also have a reciever at my house that I had hooked my computer into to play music. With that, you could even use the onboard sound card, it works good, dont see any difference from the onboard to the Sound Blaster Live! (Way old card probably why)

Hey guys, I have a problem with my F@H, I have it setup to run in the background, but it never seems to work. I deleted the cfg file, like I was suggested, but it now shows the console. I left for 2 days and had my computer on the whole time, expecting it to do at least 1-2 WU while I was away, instead it only did 1 step, 10000 parts of a 20000000 part WU. Does anyone know why its doing this?
<-----EDIT----->
I guess that I will just download the graphical version, never had a problem with that one...
-
whats the worst that they could do? Not like it and take it back, its a good present idea, if they dont like it they can always take it to the animal shelter.
-
ok...i guess its been like this for a while because the stats say its had 0 user processors, im bumed
yeah well it seems to be working now...thanks man
-
I was running F@H in the background, and I opened the console because my stats said i have had no cpus active, so i wondered if it was even working...well it isnt working at all. it has been stuck at 0 of 20000000 steps and between when it says that, it has es should i reinstall?

I ran into a similar issue with the command line version and i fixed this by getting the graphical version.
I had been running the graphical version for a while, then decided to change to the command line, thinking it would work faster, not needing any cpu power to do the graphics, well that was a bad idea, it would always lock up on me when I did that, so re downloaded the graphical version and it worked fine
