thanks verran, I think that would be the best way to go
-
This is why Im going to upgrade...I have a 160 GB IDE drive and have only 5 GB left on it. I figure that I should go with more than 160 GB and want to try SATA becaue they are faster, so my boot times (that arnt bad) will be better. I also wanted to learn about RAID so I wanted 2 drives. So I figured I would get a large space, I dont need the TB, so for saving money, I will probably go with 2 150 or 250 GB SATA HDDs
-
agreed with you verran, VB is a nice quick way to program a simple application in a matter of minutes. It is a less powerful way than C++ and the others, but is so much easier to learn.
-
Thanks for the information guys, I now know alot more than I previously did about RAID. Im not sure what I will be doing quite yet, but Ill have to wait until I actually get them to decide what Im going to do.

yeah i just figured it out, i had to install the f@h on the laptops shared network drive.
Another quick question, would i have been able to install the F@H on the laptop's shared drive from my desktop and it run on the laptop? my laptop is a pain in the butt to work on. (Hate those dang touch mouse pointer pad things...no extra mouse laying around)
-
I was wondering if there was a way to run F@H on my desktop and my laptop (both wireless networked at school) and usefahmon on my desktop to monitor both the desktop and the laptop...
i know I can use it on the desktop to monitor the desktops progress, but it would be nice if i could do it to watch both...

which do you guys think would be the safest and fastest?
Im leaning more towards JBOD, only because it seems like it would 1 be the easiest and 2 would be less wires running around in the case.

a few years ago, when I was in 6th grade, I needed a new AIM screen name (big thing to be on in 6th grade), so my friend and I came up with gotdamojo06 (sorta when an Austin Powers movie came out). I just dont feel like changing it because every online name I have is gotdamojo06

I know very little of HTML and I know a little bit of visual basic 6.0

I was thinking of 500 GB drives
So RAID 0 would show 1 TB of HDD space and act as 1 HDD, RAID 1 would show 2 500 GB HDD, and JBOD would show 1 TB HDD and act as 2 HDD?
-
I dont know what raids there are, and as far as I know my mobo supports it.
I have the MSI K8N Neo2
-
ok cool, do all of those things come with one of the drives?
how would you set up the raid arry?
thats a mess of wires...
-
I have been thinking about switching to SATA drives from the IDE drives. I dont know much about SATA except for the fact that they are faster.
So you get the orange cable and plug that into the motherboard, is that how it transfers the data?
What do you plug into the drive for power, the same cable as a normal hdd?
Then the next question that I would be asking is how would I set up a RAID? Do I do this in the bios, with a piece of software or what?

Hey guys
I was thinking of downloading overclockix, its a live cd linux distro.
Im new to the linux thing but feel like trying it out. I have tried Unbutro's live cd and I liked it except for the fact that I couldnt get the internet, because Im using a wireless network.
I guess what Im asking is can you connect to a wireless network with overclockix and also can you burn it to a flash drive and boot from that?

I love my Cannon digital camera, have not had any problems with it. The only complaint is that it is only a 2.0 megapixel camera, but who cares? Its still a digital camera that takes great pictures and has gone through alot of crap with me using it.
