DFI NF4 BIOS Memory Guide

Recommended Posts

I would get someone to confirm it John just to be sure.

I've got some buds over on ABXZone with TCCD----I'll ask them what they get

In the meantime----I think I'll still add it in as something for people to consider and test.

Before I even posted the guide----I wrote a separate post over on ABXZone asking people about that setting as it is definitely not as innocuous as it seems.

In certain circumstances-----enabling it for me caused instant crashes----then----when I found the right combo of other settings.......Enabling it cut my SuperPi time by almost 1/2 a second!!!!

It is not a "not do much" setting...

John

johnrr6 appreciate the time & effort spent on compiling all this info. Being new to OC'ing MEM. has been a real challenge to my mental faculties. I'm waiting on some OCZ EL Platinum Rev. 2 And I'm sure this guide will give me a good idea on what I need to do.

Hello, I just wondered if anyong could help me please.

I've just got a whole new system and I can't even get windows on.

I got the parts delivered on Saturday. I've so far not been able to even install WinXP Pro or even win 98 which I tried in desperation.

I've tried different settings and I get different errors.

PFN List corrupt (I sorted this error, it was due to a half formatted drive)

IRQL not less or equal (the most common error I get)

Bad pool caller

Driver IRQL not less or equal

Multiple IRP complete requests.

All BSOD errors.

I've also tried taking out a stick of ram (corsair DDR XMS Twin X) but it wouldn't even get to the bios when I tried that, same result when I used the cheap ram from my other pc, which is also 400Mhz ram.

I've got two 300gb Maxtor sata drives with 16Mb of cache on each.

I'm running everything on stock, so no overclocking. I think it may be a faulty component.

I've put together a BIOS chart for the NF4.

get it here

Tis a .doc file you can print out and make all yer notes so you don't have to remember them in your crazy head. :)

Lemme know if I missed anything.

Thanks dude. this thing was absolutely awesome, helped me to get to 315x9 with my 3500+ venice. this is an odd thing I found, I was wondering if anyone else noticed this: Write CAS# Latency(tWCL): when set to 5 added about 4 degrees to my cpu temps. <--the amazing thing is that RGone was right -- big surprise there ;-), it does seem to at least boot with almost all settings.

DRAM Drive Strength

Settings = Auto, 1-8 in 1.0 increments.

DRAM Data Drive Strength

Settings = Levels 1-4 in 1.0 increments.

My NF3 UT 250GB only has the "DRAM Drive Strength" setting, not in levels 1-8, but 1-4. :confused:

So which setting is this guide referring to with the NF3 UT? :confused:

Don't honestly know....

On the NF4----odd numbers weak----even numbers strong

Try that idea and experiment....

Sorry I can't help more....
