ViperJohn Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 one thing that has me in a tizzy, is I cannot fix any other chipset sink on this thing. I tried a copper vantec iceburg4 I had used on a 9700pro, and it won't fit. Thing fit on my K8NSpro though. I then tried a crystal orb which also did not fit, plus it was to tall. The problem is the holes are to close for any of these to fit. It's driving me nuts as at load this chipset is breaking 50°c. I put ceramique on, but I did that even before I started the board for the first time, so not sure if it helped. Why are the holes on this board smaller than others? Any ideas if anyone will make a chipset cooler for the NF4? Did you set the chipset fan to go to full speed above 25C??? I will be making a ViperSink for it but it is not that high on my priority list cause the stock cooler with the fan turned up does an okay job. brassen Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 My chipset temp went to like 43c after about 2h of half life 2 at max settings.
rowett Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 My chipset was running at 51C idle. I put some AS5 on it and so far it's made about a 3C improvement. Will be adding a case fan this evening. I'll let you know how I get on Chris
Angry_Games Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 haven't touched the chipset fan... [bimg]http://www.angrygames.com/pics/nf4/ultrad-2a.jpg[/bimg]
Poisonsnak Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 correct sah...but it will void your warranty if you hose something (ie: scratch the motherboard, dig a divot out of the motherboard, bust off a capacitor etc) Yeah I totally destroyed the plastic mounting clips when I removed it. Oh well having no warranty just makes life more exciting! Man I have to be more careful. Lucky for me the mounting system for my X700's cooling is the same so I borrowed that hehe. Stop_Sign Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I recently replaced the yellow stuff with AS5. This is my first time building. Is the chipset HSF supposed to be looser afterwards? Before with the yellow stuff it felt like it was super glued on. Now I can wiggle it a bit with my hand. Might be because the fan's only held on with 2 plastic pins. Oh, and is it bad to wiggle the fan after AS is on there?

Oh, and is it bad to wiggle the fan after AS is on there? well I know when you install an a64 cpu heatsink, they recommend you to turn the heatsink slightly left and right to remove any air pockets. Also, as5 does not harden, it remains plyable.
IXnu Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Yeah, the AS5 is more liquidy than whatever the stock juice is...which seems to harden a bit, like the epoxy, but not as HARD.
zungkono Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 I just finish to replace my nF4 TIM's (like angry's said/instruction), and it work much better, before I replace it temp=44c/idle and 49c/super pi 32M after I rplce it temp=40c/idle and 44c/super pi 32M
