Lancer33 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I have a Lian Li V1000 with both the standard solid aluminum side panel and the factory window panel. I have discvered that by adding a couple of 120mm intake fans to the side panel my temps drop substantially (CPU drops 6C, NB drops 8C and my GPU's drop 12C). I checked this by making a cardboard side panel with the fans taped to it. Now to my plan. The winow panel will not accomodate 2 fans unless I mount one of them in the acrylic, which I don't want to do so I have made this layout for the solid panel which will allow both fans plus some windw area. I would welcome comments or suggestions before I break out the power tools. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/expatbb/album/...8803471727803/
bishop245 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 i think that would look ok myself but i also wonder why you dont want to just put a fan on your window
Lancer33 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 The acrylic they use is only 1/8 inch and it is not supportes very well. It could be done but I think it would not look as good.
Guest Raven65 Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 It looks good to me. I think you might have it figured out.
Marine Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Personally i'd just put it in the acrylic but if you really don't want to then you can do it like you showed, it looks pretty good.
airman Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 that's a cool design, i like it. but....1/8" acrylic is more than enough to support some fans.
Gr4vitas Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Good design but i would sugjest doing it just opposit. Fan in the bottom left corner.
Kash Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Good design but i would sugjest doing it just opposit. Fan in the bottom left corner. Putting it in the top right corner will do nothing for you, unless you happen to have something against warm discs after burning them Stick the other fan in the lower left corner to increase the amount of cool air going to the graphics card. Quick question though. What does your exhaust look like?
Bleeble Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Come on guys, about 15 seconds of research reveals that the PC-V1000 is reverse ATX, so the video card is in the upper right-hand corner. I like the design! I look forward to seeing pictures of the finished product.
Rob D Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I like the design. This is what I did with the side of my case. The 120mm intake fan isn't in yet in this pic though.
tazwegion Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 (edited) Nice and creative solution It'll certainly be original not having a off-the-shelf side panel! Edited November 23, 2006 by tazwegion
Fueler Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I agree with Bishop245.....your design for a side panel looks very good but installing the fans in the window would be a lot easier, would work just as well and would look good if done correctly B:)
