Euro_Bucks Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 I'm looking forward to upgrade to this Kaby lake generation. I currently own a system with a haswell 4570 in it. Been looking through the line-up from different manufacturers and I saw this interesting bundle from Biostar. A Z270 motherboard ( I think it's their high end one ) bundled with a 256Gb Intel 600p m.2 SSD. Sold at $328 for the bundle. The SSD alone costs $100 and the remaining goes to the board. I think it's a fair deal since I will be having their top of the line Z270 and a free m.2 SSD. Your suggestions will be highly considered. Fight Game Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 So that leaves the biostar costing $228. Not something I would do. That seems a little higher than quite a few other 270 boards, and biostar isn't a name I hear about often. Also, 256bg ssd isn't very big at all, and you'll be wanting more soon. Braegnok Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) +1,.. You could get a lot more quality and performance for $328,.. $125 Crucial MX300 525GB M.2 SSD https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA65C54X5749 and $200 Asus motherboard https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=100007627%2050001315%20600567584%20601276224&Manufactory=1315 Edited January 24, 2017 by Braegnok
Utmost Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 (edited) Name is Eurobucks, maybe thats a good deal in Euro? I totally agree with an Asus z270F or z270E if you need wifi. And whatever 500gb SSD you can get with the left overs. How much do the Asus z270s run in your parts? ir_cow Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 The Intel Intel 600 are rated very poorly for low read and write speeds. Your better off with a budget M.2 like Western Digital Blue or Crucial MX300. Cheaper, faster and higher write endurance. Intel did have a set generic max write endurance set for like 50TB but it have been fix in a firmware update.
SpikeSoprano Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Agree with all of the above, unless you are in a country where parts are hard to get or not for sale look around for a better deal .

I've been using that brand for quite some time now. I currently using their H81 and never had problems with it after more than two years. I also use a 120gb SSd from OCZ and i think 25 is enough since I only have 2 games installed, other stuff I store in my 3 X 1tb hdds. +1,.. I am from the PH and most top tier brands sell their stuffs here like + $20 compared to prices from newegg.
Fragsman Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Allow me to ask something might be useful for us all. Between the Intel i7770k 3.6ghz with a TDP of 65W vs the 4.2ghz with a TDP of 95W. For gaming, wouldn't be a lot acceptable the 3.6ghz one? It's a lot of power consumption less I don't see the neccesity of 4.2ghz. I currently play with an OLD i7 950 3ghz TDP 130W! and no problems. ajmatson Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I too am interested in seeing what Ryzen has to offer. If as good as we are all hoping it should make Intel offerings more competitive as well for those who love Intel gear.
Dynamic Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Z170 boards are far less cheaper than Z270. I'm curious if they will support the new 8th generation Intel chips or not since they support 7th Kaby Lake cpu's. Anybody know?
ir_cow Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 most do with a bios update. Its per brand and board so I would check the manufacture website to see if an update is available.
