Lugia0529 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Hi, I am looking to replace my current CPU cooler, my current CPU cooler cant keep my AMD Phenom II X4 955 cool even I not overclocking, my CPU is currently 45C on idle and over 60C when gaming, some heavy game even bring my CPU temperature over 70C. Since I am going to replace my Casing to Cooler Master HAF 912 Advance also (Ya, I am live in Malaysia so this casing is available on my country), so some tall CPU cooler can also be my choice. It seem Cooler Master V6GT is a decent cooler but the salesman is recommend me to get the Noctua NH-U12P SE2. I can get this 2 cooler with the price below (I will convert the price to USD according to current exchange rate): Cooler Master V6GT - RM180 (~$59) Noctua NH-U12P SE2 - RM240 (~$79) I am need some advice now, any suggestion would be great. Thanks in advance.
Boinker Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Both those coolers will do great. I would lean towards the noctua but in my opinion with that case you could easily do watercooling easily.
Black64 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I have the Noctua NH-U12P SE2, best air cooler I have ever used and it's very quiet to.
PremiumAcc Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 The V6GT is a solid cooler but it sounds like a jet engine. And I would have to lean towards Noctua for its quality (this is based on my NH-D14).
vandreadstriker Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Noctua are well known for their High and Silent Performing coolers & fans. You can barely hear the NH-U12P over your case fans wheres like PremiumAcc said, the V6GT would turn your room upside down with the sound But I'd reccomend saving up some more and get a NH-D14 instead for $10 more, provided your RAMs and board are compatible with it's large size.. I did not recommend the NH-D14 as I do not know if it is available in Malaysia or whether that is in OP's price range. But I do agree, like vandreadstriker, I would spend the extra $10 or so and get the NH-D14 because it is one of top three air coolers on the market to date. dr_bowtie Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I would opt for the Noctua too.... witht he Stock Heatpipe cooler it can Handle the CPU you have just fine on stock settings... if you are having heat issues now you got airflow problems that will likely go away with the new case
Lugia0529 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Just go to the store and ordered Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler, I am ready to get a Corsair 400R casing, is this casing good?
vandreadstriker Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I have the 500R White and I love it. Not the best airflow I've experiened but the compact size and features are just right for me. Only difference that really matters is the 500R has a 200mm side intake for GPU whilist the 400R has 2x140/120 slots that are optional.. cery25 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 +1 for the cooler and +1 for the case. A friend of mine has a 400r and it's great , all black and red led fans.
d6bmg Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Noctua NH-U12P SE2. CM V6GT have problem with its loudness. I still have that V6GT which used to sound like a jet once I go over ~4.3 with 2600K. So, IMHO, avoid it. But the Noctua one.
Stonerboy779 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Before buying anything head over to the marketplace and have a look at all the coolers OCC reviewer Airman has for sale. Big savings on great coolers and plenty to choose from.
