xPETEZx Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 No, it doesn't, mines just unreadable no matter how I write. Anywho, that gear shifter is on the verge of ridiculous, if you miss that many gears with the regular shifter maybe you need some driving training. The only ride I ever missed gears in was my 1982 Civic in Australia where the synchronization was a little broken... [Edit] xPETEx, which year is that Beamer? How many horses does it have? If you have the N52B30 3.0 liter straight-6 in it (218HP, but they all have 218), it can be flashed to become a full 330i at around 270HP, as the engines are absolutely identical! I was going to say the same thing... You need driver training if you miss a gear change that often. My 325i is late November 2008. So its the one with the N52B30 3.0 straight 6. I looked into flashing it to a 330i, but apparently it is very very difficult to get the parts. The 330i has a 3 stage intake, while the 325i only has a 1 stage. The inlet manifold can easily be switched between the 2, the 325i ECU will even make limited use of the motors in the 3 stage manifold. The real problem is finding a way to get the 330i ecu to work on a 325i. From the various topics I have found only BMW wont do it for you, and after market tunning houses have had limited success. If you do have a link to place that reliably does this that would be awesome!!!
Onion Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Like I said. I didn't miss gears very often with the old shifter. However with the new shifter and knob, I've only missed a gear maybe once or twice. It's so springy, it's virtually impossible to miss a gear. The gears I did miss with the old one wasn't just city driving though, it was full speed shifts on a "track."
sparkyftw Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Just picked this car up a couple weeks ago. Upgrade from the Police Interceptor I was dumping money into (gas tank and repairs!) Had less then 60k, bought it for trade in value. 2009 Saturn Aura

The stock BMW ECU won't work because BMW obviously has made that very hard, however aftermarket tuners have had great success. I drive a 1-series and am active on some German BMW forums. The 125i runs the same engine, which has been flashed by various tunes to make between 260-285HP depending on the owners wishes. I can give you a link to a good tuner over here, just to give you an idea, however it is of course in German. http://ms-chiptuning.de/bmw/325i-218ps30s2.html http://wintertuning.de/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=111&Itemid=112 http://www.ds-motorsport.de/bmw-tuning/bmw-3er-tuning/e90-93-tuning.html If I was you, I'd contact BirdsAuto in the UK, they are usually on top of things when it comes to BMW tuning! Thanks for the links. The German is no problem, I am German, just live in the UK. Ill give them a shout! From the links I have been reading it always mentioned that you need to replace the manifold too. The tuners people where linking to would do the ECU for you, but you had to get the mainfold. (Which BMW wont sell you easily.) I considered a 1 before going with the 3. Which engine have you got in it? EDIT: Just thought... my car has a BMW warranty on it for another year. Probably not a good idea to look into tunning till that's expired Edited September 14, 2012 by xPETEZx
