jelly Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Its time for me to do a rebuild of my main rig, the one in my signature. I was thinking of putting RC2 on it to see how well it runs. Is it worth my time to try getting Raid 0 to run on it? Should I just use an ATA drive?
ReelFiles Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 The only thing with RAID is, that you'll have to install XP first on the array and then upgrade or clean install from within XP.
jelly Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Can I format if I do a clean install from xp without lossing the raid? I have never installed vista from windows.
charles19 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 The only thing with RAID is, that you'll have to install XP first on the array and then upgrade or clean install from within XP. Dumb question, I know but as I have never bothered with RAID, I was always under the impression that RAID (0) meant that you have to format your drive/lose all your files, is this the case? ReelFiles Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 If you want to set up your two 320GB drives for a RAID-0 array you would lose all you data, unless you had another drive to back them up to. I would just stick to using your Raptor for the OS.
jelly Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Will vista see just one sata? I dont need a raid setup.
ReelFiles Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 You mean just as XP sees two separate hard drives if they aren't in a RAID array? If so then yes.

soundx98 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Don't jelly. From the ATI website: Please Note:This driver release is not meant to be installed on Windows Vista RC2. The in the box RC2 drivers are more current than the ones posted for RC1. We will be posting a RC2 driver shortly.
