ReelFiles Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Good reading, I guess we'll have to just wait and see what happens.
soundx98 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I'm not trying to stick it to Microsoft and Paul, but I sure thnk they are trying to stick it to us. From Ed Bott's Blog http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=
yfital Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 heh, nice article SoundX98, i wonder what will happen. im pretty sure M$ will crack and will let everyone do it as many times as they want (ofcourse, after deleting the current install), to be frank, there is no real reason for them not too, it might sound as they will earn more money like this, but lets talk business here, do anyone really believe, someone will buy an OS more then once because they changed hardware/had a system failure? i dont. and i dont believe M$ will. if they will ... well ... these words are not ... to be said here
soundx98 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Trying to steer us back on topic here  Anyone else frustrated by the red "power" button in Vista? I was so disappointed that it put my rig to "sleep" Well "D-Oh", easy as heck to change it to true "Shutdown" from NvySeal at www.x64bit.net http://www.x64bit.net/site/board/index.php?showtopic=2886
Branjo Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Yeah bro the sleep button is a little misleading, I hit that myself assuming it was the shutdown. I don't see why "sleep" even got a button to begin with, does anyone ever use it? Â Thanks for the fix though, good job
dr_bowtie Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 it changed...? Â I hit that once in the Beta2 and it shut off now....like pullin the plug...hitting the power button and it was back at the desktop in no time....but it didnt work every single time...? TheFlowerKing Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I was miffed about the sleep at first, but now I love how it's pretty much an instaneous boot into windows. Any downside to using sleep over shutdown? (ie. any hardware overuse?)
ReelFiles Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Changed that right away, btw I am also running OS X in VMware now, it's a lot slower than Vista though
charles19 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Any downside to using sleep over shutdown?(ie. any hardware overuse?) Â I would like to know this too, seeing as it's instant I might not need to do a complete shutdown if I can simply put the computer to sleep and resume instantly
soundx98 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I would doubt there is any downside to "sleep" but I just prefer a shutdown.
jelly Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I dont think the "sleep" would be good if you are overclocking.
soundx98 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 It's usually the "waking up" part that is the problem
