rushy Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Yep, we just tried it and had the same issue. We're now reverting back to a DR. The only other thing I'd like to know is that are all you chaps using the 4 pin power input to the motherboard rather than the 8 pin? Thanks
PredatorUK Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 My Thermaltake PSU doesn't have the 8pin connector, just a 4pin in to that connector and then the floppy connector on to the board aswell. You think thats a possible problem then?? Its odd though that once the PC is rebooted after the first crash, it doesn't happen again. PredatorUK Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Just to add my voice to the issue; we're having the same problem and we're trying the molex floppy trick to fix it, will post again with an update. I've tried that... makes no difference.
MenionLeah Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I've had the crash happen multiple times in a row, about three times in 30-45 minutes or so. And then sometimes I play for almost two hours in a row without a problem. Seems to be very random on my rig, no pattern at all that I can discern. MenionLeah Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Well, I tried disabling the Default Monitor and I switched to the nVidia Network Controller but no luck, I still crashed after 40 minutes of DoD:S. Just switched to the 82.12 beta drivers to see if that helps at all.
Muppet Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 No i,m using the 8 pin connector on the motherboard and was when i was getting the crashing. It is stable for me now though, i can play for hours no problem, so i guess i'm lucky
Muppet Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Also i don't think it's just the DFI board that is the problem. i have been reading about users with the Asus A8N32 motherboard with the same problem, so the motherboard might not be what is causing it. MenionLeah Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Just played for 130 minutes without crashing after installing the 82.12 beta drivers. Needs a lot more testing to know if it is helping or not, but I'm hopeful.

MenionLeah Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Using the nVidia Network Controller, but I was using the Marvell before, had problems in games while using either. Haven't had a problem yet though since I installed the beta 82.12 Forceware drivers. Going to go have another bout of DoD:S to see if I am still lucky. MenionLeah Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Just went another hour and a half of DoD:S without a problem. About a week away from knowing whether or not I am in the clear but I'm optimistic. Here are the changes that I have made so far: Disabled Default Monitor in the Device Manager, switched from Marvell network controller to the nVidia one, turned off all processes in the Task Manager that were under my user name, and installed 82.12 Beta Forceware drivers. The only thing that has made a noticeable difference so far are the new drivers (though too early to know for sure) but I thought I would include all the changes I made just for thoroughness.
