AMD 64 X2 3800 Core question

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have a Toledo Core on their 3800 model ? Just seeing what's out there.

Most of the 3800 are Manchester. I have lucked out with a Toledo.

Just wondering. I hear different heat issues and I wonder if it's based on the core.

Also wondering about overclock rates based on the cores.

Toledo Transistors 233.2 mln. @ 110 watts vs. Manchester Transistors 154 mln @ 89 watts.

Some speculation is a partial disabled cache on the Toledo chips.

I have a feeling these may be clocked down 4200, 4400 or even 4800 models

I have seen some unreal overclocking on this chip 2.6-2.7 range and I would be interested to find out which core they are.

I go to 2.3 with little or no problem. I can run std at 2.1 with no tweak.

Thanks for any input.

Mine is a Toledo even though CPU-z says it's a Manchester. Everything else I've checked with does say it is a Toledo though and it does 2800 rock solid at 1.64v but I don't like using that much vcore, and at 2800 and 1.64 vcore, my PWM temp goes through the roof! PWM's are fine when I run [email protected] vcore.

I'm water cooled, so my idle/max is very good regardless of what I set the clocks too on this chip.

Currently running a Manchester core at 2.61GHz stable with 1.65v. I am trying to lower it to 1.6v just to see if that will prime stable. It dropped from 52*C load to 49*C load from just the voltage drop. I hope it is stable, though!

Is 1.6v and 1.65v safe for the manchester core? The temps are pretty balmy, not too hot, but I'm more afraid of frying the chip or other damage.

My toledo core 3800 only makes it to:

1.350v = 2279mhz (baseline)(34c)

1.375v = 2321mhz (+.025v + 42mhz)(36c)

1.400v = 2360mhz (+.025v + 39mhz)(36c)

1.425v = 2388mhz (+.025v + 28mhz)(37c)

1.450v = 2401mhz (+.025v + 13mhz)(38c)

1.475v = 2430mhz (+.025v + 29mhz)(38c)

1.500v = 2460mhz (+.025v + 20mhz)(38c)

1.525v = 2470mhz (+.025v + 10mhz)(39c)

1.550v = 2480mhz (+.025v + 10mhz)(41c)

1.582v = 2500mhz (+.025v + 20mhz)(42c)

The reason the toldeo is sought after is the fact that if you have a toledo core 3800/4200/4600 (half cache disabled) they only made these at the start of production, and so you have a early stepping, which tend to overclock better.

In my case, my cpu 0 is weak, my cpu 1 will do 2.6ghz on stock volts no problem, cpu0 always fails me.

My temps are nice and low though, and I uncapped the processor, but I just am not getting spectacular results like everyone else.

Also, all my speeds are 24HR stable dual prime, some people are like my toldedo is 2.8ghz stable, but then you find out that it just boots into windows at [email protected] lol, but is not anywhere near stable.

Are you sure of the stepping? Mine is an E6 Stepping, system was only built back in Sept-Oct time frame? Still I get to 2.2 with ease and can go to 2.4 with little effort.

I appreciate the info so far

forums are always full of toledo-manchester hoopla but I have not noticed any real diiference in overclocks. Mine is E4 manchesterruns good but if I had a Choice I would rather have the E6 manchester as its the newer stepping is it better I can't say but it is newer and I like newer :nod:

Mine does, but I don't like 2600, I like 2750 and that takes me upto 1.55 vcore.

I've think I've found the ceiling for this chip, at least on my water cooling, and I think [email protected] vcore is it.

Thing is, I can do 1.4 vcore@2600 and my PWM temp drops SO LOW, but instead of that, I just crank up the fan I have blowing over the PWM instead so that I can stay at 2750 :-) with good PWM temps.
